Higher rank thank pirate legend?

  • As a pirate legend myself I often find myself hungering for a higher level/rank.

As the journey to pirate legend is a long but beautiful one, but many have reached it by now and many more have maxed out the game.

I think a second, even third, rank could be beneficial. Grinding by now seems slightly pointless when my rank doesn't go up, my money just adds another 0 to the back, and the cosmetics are all bought.

    So heard my idea:
A second rank, higher than that of the pirate legend, reserved for those who believe truly in the flame...the: keepers of the flame.

Pirate legend is basically Ramsey's select best right??? How about Flameharts select best????

A fresh new rank to grind out, but this time on the side of runners--whoops--reapers bones. This would bring in a whole new set of commendations possible, something for the veterans to do rather than grind out millions of coins on fotd's, and give everyone a new goal.

I also think it would be really cool to see a Flameheart v Ramsey situation like golden sands.

There already is a rank above Pirate Legend.
Legendary Hunter of the Sea of Thieves.

  • @mr-whaletoes
Yes but this would be a flameheart rank, and it would have a whole special Flameheart tavern maybe? Just for the 2 different lords of the sea ya know

  • commendations commendations commendations

The REAL OG GANGSTA grind of the salty seas

  • @sudsierboar5526
    YESSIR

  • Yeah, I am honestly surprised why there is a cap on the levels. Especially with the emissary's. I remember when the vaults came out, I was just above level 50 GH, and then I have reached level 75 waaaaay to quick, I did not even want it to be that quick. The way the gameplay is, those levels should be into hundreds.

  • I don't have level 50 any emissary yet, talking about levels into the hundreds. Do not tempt the wrath of Tia Dalma!

  • @sarjentstupid
    Lol Tru!

But after u DO reach 50 emissary wouldn't it be nice to have somewhere to go after?

  • If there's more cosmetics locked behind PvP, I'm in.

Mark my words, that day is nearer than you think.

I really dislike having all main factions maxed out (OOS,Gold hoarders,Merchants) so whenever I'm playing with someone new it feels a bit disappointing as I am no longer progressing in levels and I know I could something else alot more profitable. I still do it as I love Sea of Thieves, but would be way more amazing if you had more space to progress.

Someone who is level 50 or even 75 might think they came a long way grinding for the faction in respect to other players, but if you look at it there is probably people who would be already level 500+ if that existed. Check the emissary rankings, some players make in one month as much as we have made in the whole duration of playing this game.
Besides having a huge level cap would also let us determine who are the true 'pirate legends' of this game.

I see a lot of runescape mentioned here - you guys remember zezima? Would be cool to have one like it in this game too :D

  • i think they should add a "prestige" rank..

    Much like other games..
Once you max out your levels..
You can prestige.. which will NOT reset your commendations.. But reset your levels back to Zero.
You can level up again as a prestige..
You will get a Pirate Title of "Best of the Best" or "Prestige Pirate".. something like that
maybe even some special prestige cosmetics you can get.

I do like the Flameheart leveling up..
but we kinda already have it with Reapers Rep..

  • @li-jratt-li
I'm currently writing a concept for that very Idea lol :D

  • @funnyqchen sounds like a good idea to me. Ill watch for ur post

A few things. People cheesing Alliance servers are now the "true 'Pirate Legends'"? Hmmm....
Also, I think that's fairly Elitist. I don't get to be a "true" Pirate Legend because I have a partner, child to care for, job to do, etc and cannot grind Sea of Thieves 40 hours per week like some people do? Anything that is achieved by just grinding and repetition does not show any additional "skill" or whatever, just more time in-game.

Well if someone spends 40 hours in game when you spend 40 hours at work, it does make them whatever you wanna call them in this game and this game only. You can look at them from your perspective, you have a child, a partner a job and a life, they might not, why take that pride away from them or stand in the way of them getting this recognition.

Also, how would your argument differ from the actual current title ' Pirate Legend' ? Some people have even less time than you and might never reach this rank.

Also I did not suggest to create a title 'True Pirate Legend' - All I meant is that when you open Leader Boards, Rare could basically add another section (maybe not even needed, just purely for bragging rights) where you could compare yourself to someone. And if someone is dedicated enough to have lets say Level 1500 Gold Hoarders (which some people would already have probably, they just dont see their levels go above 75) why would you be against them having some sort of progression? This would only make the seas more full?

This is in no way shape or form to make anyone feel worse about themselves. It's just for people who have more time to play this game to continuously have a sense of progression and achievement - psychology.

Also even if there would be a title ' True Pirate Legend' - so what? It's what it is. C'est la vie. Some people are born into very wealthy families and I need to have a job. I demand same as them! :D

  • @zig-zag-ltu

The current title is just an earned in-game title. I never attribute any actual skill, game knowledge, etc to people with that title. It's just an in-game earned title. You fulfill the criteria, you earn the "Pirate Legend" title. shrug It doesn't mean anything to me. People who haven't had time or the drive to reach that rank could very well be better than me in most or all facets of the game: in-game knowledge, PvP, sailing technique, etc.

I'm not saying you would create an actual "in-game" title of True Pirate Legend. I question the thought behind "People who have reached level 500 in Merchants are the TRUE Pirate Legends" sentiment. If they create a new leveling scale or let the current emissaries go to 500, or infinite, that's fine with me. I don't care. They can give it new titles, new commendations, etc. That's all fine and dandy, and before the end of SoT's lifespan I fully expect that at least the major 3 emissaries will get raised to 100, if not 200 or more. That's all fine.

My problem is with the sentiment you stated "Besides having a huge level cap would also let us determine who are the true 'pirate legends' of this game." That's elitist, gives credit where it is not due, and does not give credit where it is due. Someone who grinds on an Alliance server to get level 500 in Merchants is NOT a "True Pirate Legend" compared to the father who spends a few hours per week fishing and doing Spanish Forts with his daughter to bond and have fun. That thinking that "I'm better than you, a TRUE Legend because I have 1000 more emissary levels and 200 million more gold than you" does this game a huge disservice.

  • *tongue in cheek

sofar i only see the commoners talking. ;D

there is a higher rank - its called 'founder' ;)

i waited 5 years to make this joke.

  • @maximusarael020

Ok, forget that I even said it, as I highlight again the fact that I was misunderstood with that ''true pirate legend'' statement. Just wanted to say that if you open - Leaderboards you can see every month people have faction reputation in Millions. So obviously jokingly speaking they are more pirate legends than all of us as with so much gold they could probably create their own faction (joking again).

Also writing something in brackets changes the true meaning of a statement. For example You are definitely ''good'' at this game. The restaurant is the ''best'' in town. You can even say it means the opposite of the statement. In spoken English I believe you would call it - air qoutes. Idk maybe I'm wrong here.

I do apologize for referring to your private life, but as a parent how do you feel bad about children having this opportunity, or allowing them to feel better than some adults, with some silly meaningless in game achievements/character progression???

Also this is just a game, it should give joy and entertainment and not a sense of insecurity, what other people do does not concern you, its about your pirate adventure and not theirs.
Also as a parent you should not let some kids get into your head over a game! I apologize if my comment seems harsh...I do not mean to insult anyone.

You also said you like fishing, I do not fish, maybe caught 10 of them . So I am just as good fisherman as you!

  • @zig-zag-ltu
Like I said: I don't care if they add titles, add commendations, add whatever. They will, I'm sure, as the game has another 5-6 years left on its planned lifespan, and the road to the "Pirate Legend" title is currently shorter than it was at launch, so I'm sure more titles and emissary levels will be added.

My only gripe was with the sentiment that people who had time to cheese Alliance servers or spend 40+ hours per week playing the game were somehow the "True" Pirate Legends; that having more time in-game or cheesing Alliance servers makes anyone "more" or "better" or a "true" version of anything.

Rare can give whatever achievable titles they wish. That doesn't upset me. What disheartens me is any sentiment that people doing what they enjoy in the game that is not grinding for gold, emissary levels, etc are not "True" legends, or are anything less than other pirates. People who spend all their time playing just to get fantastic screenshots, people who spend their time playing just to have fun silly shenanigans with other players or crews, people who spend their time fishing and relaxing, or taking in the lore, or solving mysteries, or exploring islands. Players who attempt to role-play "drive-through" services for cooked food at defeated Spanish Fortresses or who spend most of their play-time drunk on grog for the kicks. They are all True Pirate Legends, regardless of emissary value or gold piles.

    💯👏

  • Pirate legend really is just the start of the game tbh since it's so easy and it unlocks so many new commendations that requires you to do so many different things.

    Sink 500 skeletonships.
    Get all fishing commendations.
Complete 250 of each factions voyages.
    Do 100 GH vaults.
Get all the cosmetics/commendations from Tall Tales.
    Athena 30.

I can add so many other things here that takes a while to achieve but this shows how little Pirate Legend really means.

  • There is already a rank above PL, it's people who got the Legendary Rogue before they decreased the milestone reqirements

  • @honeycrisp1 I think you may be surprised in the very near future.

  • Captain Ships are the new prestige. Got one maxed out? Buy a new one and start all over again.
