Tall Tales not unlocked bug

  • I recently completed the Storyteller Tall Tale after already having done Shroudbreaker and Cursed Rogue earlier, but now I can't seem to start the next chapters like the Stars of a Thief, Wild Rose or Art of the Trickster... For some reason the only Tales that are not locked on the map are Shroudbreaker, Pirates Life and the non-chapter ones like Seabound Soul and Heart of Fire. Everything else is locked it seems. I don't think I remember them all being locked before but I'm not sure any more. Seems like it has to be a bug. Nothing I do seems to unlock them on the map or in the world. Even though they do show as unlocked in the Reputation Tales page. I can't even restart Legendary Storyteller anymore. The book to activate it is missing from the tavern. Can someone help me?

If it makes any difference I recently became Pirate Legend and Captain of a Sloop. Usually play in groups but currently playing some solo sessions. I previously do not remember this being a problem in either group or solo play but it's hard to say for sure given I recently finished a Tale I hadn't finished previously (Storyteller).

  • So why no response to this? I'm not the only the one with this problem. Someone I usually play in a group with has the exact same issue. All the later Tall Tales that are not Pirate's Life (except the two non-chapter ones) are locked despite meeting all the requirements to unlock them. Something is broken and it's preventing me (and others) from enjoying basically half the story missions. Note I've since completed all Pirate's Life chapters too and still all the Tales after Storyteller are locked on the map. So I guess the only one I can still play now that I haven't already played is the Heart of Fire one.

It's a bug, you could report it: https://support.seaofthieves.com/hc/en-gb/requests/new

You should try to find someone who has access to this tall tale, then start it and perhaps exchange him with your friend (if they're ok with this obviously).

  • I guess I figured this forum is also monitored for bugs and such, but you're right I should just submit a formal bug report (and have just done this very thing).
