Ive played both and I can say...there very little difference and it fast enough it takes 1.5 seconds to go from one side of the map to the other. Frankly I want it to slow down.

Not really, since it is entirely dependent upon what mouse sensitivity one has, assuming they aren't using wasd to look. Or one can DPI switch to navigate quickly, similar to moving/aiming cannons.
@goldsmen Not just a faster map... I haven't looked but I saw one streamer try to play with a controller and sometimes use a controller on my other pc and OMG the sails... Just stop. please stop! on controller when you go to adjust sails it forces the camera to snap up to the sails and if you try to look down the the camera it just snaps back when you let go of the stick. Like there is a sound effect when the sail is fully raised. I feel like in this game is more important to see what's in front of you then if the sail is all the way up. You can much more easily look up than fighting to keep the camera down so you can finish raising the sails when you are as close as you wish to be to the island. I don't know if that's just mouse/kb habit but I grab the sails and I watch my distance from the island and just raise in increments as I get closer. I guess the sails thing might not be as much of an issue if you're on a crew and you have a captain giving out commands telling you when to raise the sails but as a solo player doing everything myself... minor complaint though I guess just let go of the sail adjustment. To me it just feels gross grabbing the rope then just SNAP. I don't know if it would be hard to program but both sticks have the same effect on the map. Would be nice if using both would just move it faster or something. 100% agree though looking around the map with a controller is awful. Maybe even just a setting similar to aim sensitivity. But I suggested a spyglass sensitivity slider and Joe got this puzzled look on his face like I am a crazy person... This is a game about being alert of your surroundings. Looking with the spyglass is no different then looking around with a sniper scope. They joked when they finally added weapon aim sensitivity that our mouse pads would thanks us. Well spyglass is still wearing it out.
@magus104 I thought the sail thing happened to both keyboard and mouse and controller players. I feel like that's not really a big issue because you can still look down and to the sides if you adjust the right stick. Not sure I really agree upon needing to change the spyglass sensitivity as it can move pretty fast with a high x sensitivity. Spotting ships can sometimes be a little difficult depending on the game weather, so going really fast might not be the best idea. It's important to take your time and be able to identify threats and assess situations rather than zooming past everything.
@burnbacon I don't believe you have seen some mouse and key players use the map table then. It takes them a split second to view the whole map while it takes seconds for controller players to move from the shores of plenty to the wilds and then to the devil's roar. Mouse and key can adjust their map sens but controller players are all stuck on the same map sensitivity. Quite frankly it's embarrassing and humiliating trying to look around the map while a mouse and key player looks on. Mouse and key already has so many other advantages why can't controller players at least get this.
@epicgamer4785 I mean there's no reason not to have an option for it. Like yea I could turn up my mouse sensitivity to an ungodly level to be able to spin around insanely fast. But why not just have a slider for it? Your argument against it is like ok then..
When this game launched you couldn't adjust the aim sensitivity on guns either so lets revert back to that lack of options too. Pretty much ever shooter has aim sensitivity and camera sensitivity. This was the first game I had played in a long time that didn't originally have such options. Also one of the few games I have played with a spyglass which is basically no different than being a gun you can't shoot. But guns needed sensitivity sliders but the spyglass doesn't.....
Ironic you are asking for a change for the sake of controller (which I agree with) but then shooting down any potential change to mouse usage. Not that sensitivity is just a mouse thing as it's there under controller options too. As far as the sails go I guess they figured having the camera auto adjust so you didn't have to use both sticks was a good idea. I know the intent of the game design is communication so the person doing sails wouldn't (in theory) be the same person driving the ship. But as a solo player doing everything by yourself I just find it annoying to have to hold down on the right stick the entire time I am holding onto the sails. Saw a few PC gamers try to play on controller just to see what it's like and they all complain about the sails. On mouse & keyboard when you grab the sails the camera snaps up to the sails but unlike controller the camera is locked to the sail length. So after that first camera snap up to sails it says wherever you move it to. It's all about what you are used to I guess. Like some people really enjoy the comfort of a controller. I like my hot keys. Seconds matter in games.
