SoT Server limit with season 8?

    So does anyone else feel like Season 8 just took the arena and brought it into the game in a way?

    I see so few people on the water sailing around as compared to before and if a server only has 5 crews with a limit of 16 players in it and people are jumping in and out of the server ... how many crews and players are currently allowed on a server? If all 5 crews go and activate the hourglass and say they all defend (unlikely but still plausible) is the server going to bring in 5 other crews (again unlikely but still plausible) to PVP with the current server and in so double the current active crew on said server or how has this been altered to accommodate the new season?

    From my experience, if I am on a full server, and the other 4 crews leave, then I am transferred to another server. As far as I am aware nobody sails on an empty server.

    I am talking about the other way around if there is a full server of 5 crews and they all defend which brings in another crew to fight them, would that double the server to 10 crews if they all got one simultaneously ?

    No. It will merge people onto different servers and leave certain ones on their original server. The game tries to keep the maximum amount of ships on a server at any given time. That’s why you’ll get randomly merged, and sometimes merged again soon after.

    So if all 5 dive, 2 might be put back on their original server with their now 2 opponents and 1 fresh spawn will fill the 5th spot, while the other 3 who dove will be put on other servers with their opponents.

    Its FIVE.

    Five crews is still the limit, it wasn't changed so if all five on the server; you're not going to get invaded.

    I assume this crew(s) limit (5 ships max per server) is for server stability as the game can not handle more than this many players playing on the same server at any one time ? Or is this too keep the game from being too much pvp too soon ? Or to allow players to have time to get some treasure to fight over ?
