Crosshair X final discussion

  • Okay so Ive never used this but i would like to know. Crosshair X is sold on the Microsoft Store for Xbox Game Bar. I've read through the forums and there is not a definitive answer on if this is bannable or not. Here is the report on using a crosshair on a monitor from a previous forum from a Rare employee:
    "Ahoy!

Dropping anchor here. Let's not encourage others to break ToS.

Anything that gives you an advantage in-game CAN get you reported and moderation action can be taken against your account.

TLDR: Better not to risk it.

    Thanks,
    j0toro"

This is still a very ambiguous answer and doesn't answer the question directly, and as Microsoft itself sells Crosshair X overlay makes it even more confusing. Could we please get a straight forward answer from a Rare employee saying if Crosshair X is or is not against ToS?

    Thanks guys

  • If someone could link the ToS I think it would be easy to figure out.

  • @spartanxbear I think if you’re having to question it, it means you shouldn’t. Plus, if the topic has been shut down already, why are you asking again?

  • @tesiccl it hasn't been shut down, there's been no definitive answer. Again, as I referenced, Microsoft sells this product and I want to see if its useable on a Microsoft owned game. I am trying to get a definitive answer. Maybe read the post in its entirety and thoroughly before responding.

  • it's pretty simple

it's an advantage and doesn't exist in the game which means it's not intended and not wanted in SoT

how often do people get caught? no clue but it's 100% a violation of ToS until they either specifically state that they are cool with it or until they add one in game.

From everything I have ever seen it's clear they don't support it.

  • @wolfmanbush then why would Microsoft sell it?

  • @spartanxbear rare don’t own Microsoft.

  • @tesiccl Microsoft owns Rare.....

  • @spartanxbear exactly, and not everything that Microsoft release has to be compatible with Rare or allowed on their game. I don’t know what’s so difficult to just accept the outcome of one post and take it as a no.

SoT isn't the only game that exists.

Does it work on single player games?

This literally answers your question. It’s not vague. Jo is literally telling you any advantage used is seen as breaking the ToS and you can get reported for it. Simple.

  • @wolfmanbush yes its just an overlay, like Nvidia or Steam overlays.

Well I guess you have a decision to make

you wanna play with fire while playing gotcha and put your account at risk?

or you wanna be fair to your opponents and abide by the spirit of ToS?

  • @wolfmanbush or I would like an answer from Rare that isn't a "CAN" but a "will or will not." Im not playing with fire, i don't use. Just looking for clarity.

For the record, Microsoft doesn't sell it, it is created by a 3rd party company and is simply available via Game Bar.
