  • To you pvers or people who have just given up about how many losses did you guys take to get the skele or ghost curse and did you guys find it worth it or not?

  • Kinda matters more if you think it is worth it

how much do you want it?
    what's it worth to you?
is investing in a very repetitive type of combat something you are fine with?

If it's something you really want and a process that isn't gonna burn you out or lead you to wanting to quit the game then that seems like it's worth it

if it's gonna cause issues it might not be

it's hundreds and hundreds of losses

  • I gave up but I’m still at lvl 7 on reapers and 3 with Athena

    So…I’m not desperate yet XD

  • Loss farming doesn't exist anymore, it's turned into roll farming and invite peddling. I.e., you ask your opponent to invite you to their ship or to roll a dice for the sink. It's more efficient because instead of loss after loss you win sometimes.

But my measurements is at level 75, a level takes 4 wins or 18 losses. Before that it was 3 wins, and before level 25 it was 2 wins or so. So in total that's around 1250 losses or 300 streak-less wins. If you can passively grind out matches as quickly as possible while watching videos or listening to music or something, then "worth it" is subjective.

My Athena win rate swung between 34-38% (IDK if that's good/average/bad), I turned in every two streak or four streak I could, and it took me three months of dedicated play to get cursed. Was it worth it? Honestly... not yet? I'm taking a break from HG and playing adventure mode using the discord to find a crew. Most players I play with mention the curse when they see it, ask me how miserable the grind was, and then basically play as though I wasn't even wearing it. It's not a flex, it's not a medal of honor, it's a show of time spent in a game mode that is largely unpopular.

I haven't met anyone yet that is impressed or gushed about the curse, it's just another cosmetic that most pirates think the grind is too miserable to attempt.

You honestly thought people would be impressed by walking around with a curse you got by primarily ( ? or at least for a big part) loss farming while watching series or movies ?

Many pirates are saying that the curses are a flex or an achievement or nebulously "mean something," so yea I kind of was expecting more hype about it when I take it out for a spin. Win lose or draw, I have the McGuffin I had thought people would want and I was wroooooooooooooooong...

  • You would need approx. ~ 1700 - 1800 losses to get to level 100 (you need approx. 1,244,000 XP for level 100, while a loss gives you 700 XP).

  • @getsomegrit level 4 and no it's not worth it at all long boring fights or getting curb stoped in an instant for little to no reward my opinion base curses should be way easier to get season is over in 6 days and only a slim minority will ever get the base curses let alone the gold variant at this rate as the requirements are far to high for your casual pirate

  • @wolfmanbush and thats why imo it's not worth it and never will be if it's so bad it makes you want to quit then thats a major problem that needs addressing

  • Just like with any game and any part of a game if there is a way people will find how to exploit it, just get in the free sink towards your next battle and move on.. it's just more annoying when its all you get in a session.. 1 or 2 peppered about is meh.. free supplies.

  • @ondrejbakan thanks!

  • I wonder what a loss farm looks like?

  • @lordqulex I just lossfarm by anchoring and to see who sinks me the fastest, so like a champion.

  • A reminder that bumping threads more than 30 days old goes against the Forum rules. I will be dropping anchor here
