Yes. I'm an older player who likes to come home after work and have a nice adventure. I get enough fighting during the day. I'm not some young guy that needs a bunch of PvP to prove my manhood. Haha. So it is my goal to leave the game when attacked and make sure the other ship gets no joy out of it. So hopefully they will go play some other FPS game. Everybody has a goal. Haha.
Teaching PvP to leave
Ignore supplies then. Don't carry supply chests unless you're willing to fill/bury them. Put them in a mermaid statue or supply crate into barrels on PL3 .
Shoot your fireworks.
I also tolerate PvP in this game. Unfortunately Rare won’t remove PvP from the game. I also leave the game when confronted with PvP. I also have no need for gold so I don’t carry treasure aboard my ship anymore. I’m currently working on my curse commendations since world event were nerfed. I got my curses through a few PvP victories and a bunch of loss farming.
Unfortunately, PvP wasn’t announced properly with this game and many people buy this game unaware of the dangers. Rare boasts about having over a million players but in reality a large number of that are players who started a pirate and are too lazy to delete it. I personally know 3 people who are friends and family who played the game in the past and have left the Sea of Thieves permanently. How many millions of people have played this game and left it never to return?
Personally I think the reason why Rare is catering to the new players is because so many veterans have given up because there is nothing left to do. Not everyone is a completionist like me. Unfortunately, cosmetics are the only goal here and most of the best cosmetics are in the pirate emporium.

Not sure what you're hoping to get out of this. PvP will never leave this game, even if you stop playing when attacked they will just find someone else to fight. This thread will probably be locked soon because it isn't feedback or a suggestion.
That's what you're meant to do, that's what the scuttle button is for! PvP isn't for everyone, and that's okay, i'd rather someone just left/scuttled than waste both my time and their time! Your inflammatory and judgemental language could certainly be done without, it's very unbecoming, but i do wish some people realised that there's no stakes, if you are adamantly against PVP and are not going to engage, your best bet is just to leave sometimes!
Buuut, yeah, this kinda post is just a little unnecessary, and baitey, you betray your true sentiment too much. It's okay to not like PVP, but just accept it's part of the game and that's not changing, rather than bringing up manhoods!@captainluke56
I'm 43, no longer a spring chicken myself. I'm more of a PVE player myself, as I often see PVP as a nuisance. IMO, It's best utilized as a means to a goal, not as the goal in and of itself.Having said that. I'm taking the opposite direction from you. I recognize that this is an area of the game that I'm, honestly, not good at. So, I've started doing Solo Sloop HG to raise my Athena. I'm trying to raise my skill in PVP. Instead of running from my shortcoming, I'm leaning into it, to improve that aspect of the game.
Am I about to go around killing everything I come across? No. But, I'm more likely to be of use to my crew when someone wants to steal our stuff from a Fort of Fortune/Fort of the damned. I'm more likely to be of help to my crew when we decide WE want those forts more than the other players.
@captainluke56
I actually do the same thing. PvP isnt why I play, so I don't waste my time doing it. Those that want to PVP, have at it, but there is nothing wrong with a person choosing how they play this game.@captainluke56 what is the purpose of this post? Some major projection going on with assumptions and insults aimed at people who enjoy pvp (which include game devs and is part of core design).
I respect your point, but IMO this is not the way to teach anything.
Doing this you are giving that players more reasons to stay, not to quit or move to other games. I understand your pov, I also like to sail after my 8 hours at work without being disturbed, but this is something we can´t control unless we play in certain servers, you know. By sinking your ship you give them more resources to disturb other players.

I dont like being confronted by PvE so i just leave the game if skeleton npcs spawn on me. Rare please make this game PvP only.
This game will die without PvE. Why do you think the Arena died? Many PvP players enjoy chasing players. What will the PvP community hunt if there is no one to hunt?

The number of PVE only players is growing by the day...
Yet is the mix of pvp and pve that is keeping this game alive and well after 5 years of existence.
Since the introduction of the new chests the adventure is revitalized and pvp keeps pve players on their toes.
Ahoy, going to be dropping anchor on this thread as there is a post about Rare's thoughts on PvPvE (including a link to the Sea of Thieves Podcast that discusses it) here: https://www.seaofthieves.com/community/forums/topic/136693/pvpve-the-team-s-thoughts/1
You can read an article by Joe here in regards to Private/Custom Servers.
Thank you.
