Emissary Flags

  • I think if you are able to retrieve your own emissary flag, be it from your sunk ship, or from another player that sunk you and took it, you should be able to place it back in the flag holder and resume your emissary at that level. This is for your flag only. Gives some more reason to go after someone that sinks you.

  • Interesting idea, but I'm not sure if you sink with emissary 5 you should be able to go back being emissary 5. Just having the option to become emissary again would be great, instead of going back to the outpost.

  • The problem with that is it's too easy to exploit by sinking yourself.

However I think of.you steal your emissary back from another crew, it should be worth full price instead of 1 gold.

  • Loosing your flag is the prize you pay for loosing your ship. By getting defeated or sunk by "nature", you bring disgrace to your chosen trading company, and there should be a prize to pay for that. Luckily they do not demand gold as a compensation for your failure to protect your flag.

That being said, its very easy to level up any flag nowadays, even as a solo player, so its easy to just start over.

Also remember that an emissary flag gives you LOTS of bonus income, so there needs to be a balance to it. The Reapers offer part of that balance, and another part is loosing the flag, and having to start from zero.

Remember that raising ANY emissary flag, you become a prime target. The emissary flags are more or less PvP beacons, they signal that you have loot buffet on board, and everyone is invited. (The reapers are even specifically designed to see and hunt emissaries, evident by their level 5 reward.)

So protect your flag, and enjoy its benefits,

  • Aren't the flags worth the same whether lowered or sold to the Servant?

Like, if I lower a Grade 3 flag, that's the same gold someone else would get for handing it in to the Servant, right?

I don't really remember, but I don't see any reason why you can raise any flag you get your hands on. Sink a GH 5 and want to go do a vault? Sure, why not? You may not have "earned" that flag via PVE but you sure earned it with PVP.

  • Good thinking, but at the end of the day, you can also retrieve it in order to prevent the other ship (reaper) selling it and get rid of it at the nearest outpost. You just have to convince yourself that it's worth the hassle OR avoid the situation altogether next time.

  • you should be able to place it back in the flag holder and resume your emissary at that level

Should yes. But as an emissary there needs to be a strike for losing it to begin with. Nothing should be free.

So maybe you have to pay the emissary to reattach it. (Go back to an outpost) Higher grade the more $$ (good way to spend money as wel)

Nope, they're not. Lowering your grade 3 flag gives you 1,750 gold; selling it to Reapers (if it's not your own) gives you at least 5,500 gold plus emissary multiplier if any.

Sure ... do the vault without an Emissary, when you reach an outpost put the flag up, turn in the chests and take it down again. That's a hefty bonus for having the flag up for just a minute or two.

Putting the flag back up or on another ship is very much exploitable.

  • @lem0n-curry Aha, touché.

  • @hunbradel
And think of the new commendation(s) you could add to the game!

  • Yea actually I've thought about this as well , good idea but only if you can't put it back in once your level 5.

    Rare should add this immediately.
