Sea of Thieves in Other Games

  • I play Rocket League every once in a while, and I was going through my inventory when I thought it would be cool if there were some Sea of Thieves cosmetics in Rocket League. (I was thinking of a pirate hat that could go on the cars, a flag on the antenna, or a goal explosion/victory theme)

Referring specifically to cosmetic items (like their "crossover" with State of Decay 2 and Forza), I started thinking about other collaborations Sea of Thieves could have with other games. Alongside Rocket League, I think Sea of Thieves cosmetics would go well with games such as Overwatch 2, Call of Duty, Destiny 2, and Fortnite. I could also see Rare reaching out to Playground Games to see if they'd be interested in doing something in Fable.

I think something like this would be good for Sea of Thieves. It would help expose other audiences to the game through cross-promotion and potentially convince them to try out the game. Not only that, but it gives us some Sea of Thieves representation when we play other games.

  • Something like minecraft would hit imo.

A lot of adventurers in a game like that, personally I think trying to draw in adventurers over shooters builds up the organic environment in a more varied interest kind of way, which benefits the game far more in the long term.

Adventurer vibe clashes with shooter vibe a lot in this game, there will always be shooters and pvpers in this game, when interest and activity dips it's always adventurer/pve activity. That's what we gotta draw in imo.

The content creation side of SoT and some of the pvp side of SoT often disagree with that sentiment but strong adventure/pve in SoT creates healthier pvp and encounters, it's always been that way.

Performance wise the game just doesn't really support true competitive pvp so some games would be trying to bring in people that are flat out gonna very much not like that, much like when they market without really showing people what pvp is actually like in this game, bringing people in is a priority but also making sure the game is marketing to people that will actually enjoy their time here.

I knew I was forgetting something! I agree, Sea of Thieves inspired cosmetics would work very well in Minecraft. I think a Sea of Thieves texture pack would look really cool as well!
