I think there should be kraken and megalodon hunting quests. They are the most RNG dependent meats to get in the cooking tab for the Hunter's Call so they should be a little easier to get. Plus, it fits with the theme of the company to have players go out and hunt sea monsters, that's part of why Merrick started the company, because he couldn't do it anymore.
For the megalodon it could be like Shrouded Deep, where the HC representative gives you a flare and the quest could say, "X megalodon was last spotted North/South/East/West of (this island)" and you sail over to the island, use the flare with the island cannon and summon the megalodon to fight it. The different rarity megalodons could give increasing numbers of meat.
For instance:
-
list itemthe Hungering One gives 3-4
-
list itemthe Crested Queen gives 5-6
-
list itemthe Shadowmaw gives 6-7
-
list itemthe Ancient Terror gives 8-9
-
list itemthe Shrouded Ghost gives 10
None of these will count towards the megalodon hunter commendations because they aren't chance encounters. The rarity of the megalodons could be 1:1 initially with chance encounters and slightly skew towards rarer megalodons as you level up in the company. I think that the shrouded ghost giving a grade's worth of meat is a decent reward for how rare it is.
For the Kraken the quest could say, "Kraken last spotted at (this location)" or "Unsafe waters around (this location)" and it'll be coordinates on the map like L-13. You sail over and have to ring the bell on your ship or play a temporary shanty or something and a shockwave like when you're diving for hourglass will shoot out from your ship, which is some sort of kraken color, and a few seconds later the kraken will emerge for your crew to fight against. The tentacle drop rates could be the same, 1-3 meat per I think, but as you level up in the Hunter's Call the number of tentacles you need to kill could increase.
Because these are quests for the Hunter's Call, none of the monsters will give loot other than meat. What do you think? Should the drop rates be different? Are the quest ideas too vague? Let me know, I'd love to read other hunter's call enthusiasts' opinions.
