When are you going to take care of all these hacks? I'm sure this post will be deleted, but players can simply search YouTube for "free SOT hacks" and find MANY instantly.
For any players wondering why so many people want safer seas; dealing with hacking griefers to PVP with no skill-based-matchmaking is a large part of it.
This is made worse when the hacks are free and there is no in-game HACKER REPORT function, just a report button for a ship with a foul name.
I recommend maybe simply sending a special "security" number between all pertinent functions in your coding that you can change every day/week/month when needed, and if a hacker tries to run a command without the security number or attempts to guess and gets it wrong, the game then auto-bans them.
But then again you wouldn't even know if the hackers got around any new security if there is no hacker report button in the game to alert you in the first place.
I was going to post links to all the "free SOT hacks" videos I found posted to YouTube just in the last few DAYS but I don't want to be banned, your developers should do their due diligence and look them up themselves to really see what their community is dealing with, and then maybe they will rethink that gold/reputation percentage cut to safer seas.
Even the hacker-filled toxic anarchy that is Grand Theft Auto has a dang passive mode option, so people need to stop thinking Sea of Thieves should be pure grief mode with no safety, otherwise you will only attract players that want to grief and hack, which is drastically limiting the player base.
You said in the Season 10 video that you will be working with a new anti-cheat system, but you said you won't tell us when it's in the game, and that you will have more news about cheating later, but you also didn't tell us when you will be updating us about the cheating. Any developer can say "yeah we're working on the cheating" but then use confidentiality as an excuse to simply do nothing and stay reactionary.
As you also said in the video it's an arms race with the hackers, so to be on the winning side you need to be more pro-active rather than reacting only when it's a major hack like teleportation - because that was fixed almost instantly - yet gun/cannon auto-aim and ESP still persists for years.
I found a few of these types of posts in this forum from the passed few years, complaining about the lack of anti-cheat like me, so obviously screaming into the void isn't helping. Maybe if this post gets enough UP VOTES they will take the issue more seriously, or at least possibly make them want to share some information on what's being done about it.
As far as I can tell, if people are still posting new cheat/hack videos on YouTube every day, then there is still no anti-cheat in place.
