Port Merrick

  • What's the deal with Port Merrick?
Is there a grand plan to make it feel less pointless?
So much work has gone into changing it from Golden Sands but it all seems totally pointless and just a total waste of space?

  • @pure-rare Since this is a topic on the minds for many of us here.

Just had an idea, not sure how possible it would be to implement, since the area is already an fps drain.

But what if Port Merrick would be incorporated into voyages more? Lost shipment clues to be found, vault map parts, maybe something brand new?

Sounds quite easy to do if nothing else is planned in the near future. Would be a shame to leave that port town deserted for another year or two or even three.

  • I'll support any change/addition if I think the pros outweigh the cons so this isn't to oppose "more"

but is any of it pointless just because some don't enjoy it as it is?

I've barely spent any time there and I play all the time, does that make it pointless? It's a big beautiful design and I'm sure some like it and enjoy it.

I would have loved to have the killer whale still in the game, even if there was nothing to do other than see it and stand on it. Sometimes things just add to people's experiences in subtle ways, imo.

  • I agree - from a business perspective you would think all that developmental work and community decision making would account for something...grander?

Port Merrick should offer a few more perks...did you know there is a 3 stove cooker on the second floor of the tavern?

I'd like to see the devs utilize the leaderboard tech used in the circus section of the Monkey Island: Quest for Guybrush Tall Tale.

The leaderboard could show guild emissary rankings and maybe a smaller ship specific board.

I also think Rare should run a limited time event that renders cannons "peace balled" in the vicinity of Port Merrick to encourage social gatherings.
