Skelleton curse correction(head)

  • Well, from the first day I saw the curse I had a hard time adapting to the character model, because NPCs have completely standardized bodies and if the idea was to look like a skeleton it didn't make sense to adapt the model.

I advocate that skeletons be standardized, from body to head, this way it would be easier to create skins and we would have an appearance that matches real skeletons.
BUT if Rare doesn't want to do this, at least I ask them to standardize the skeletons' heads, I think the design of adapting to the model always looks strange and not very threatening

the skeleton costumes of the dark warsmith and bonechiller have the head standardized as it should be, they only adapt to the body.

  • I like the different head shapes we all have, adds to the character of our skeletons. I mean, do we irl all have the same head shape? No lol.

  • @tesiccl But bones don't get fat either, all skeletons should be thin haha

I don't like the distortions on the face, that's what bothers me most about the curse, especially in some models that have a flat face.

the face of the skeleton npc is much more threatening.

  • @lleorb irl skeletons of people that are of the more voluptuous persuasion look different then skeletons from more lean people.

There is quite the difference in skeletons irl as well

  • @lleorb

I’m very sorry but this is factually inaccurate. I have broad shoulders irl, that’s due to my skeletal structure being slightly different. The bones aren’t fat but just a different shape and that extends to pirates in game.

I also can’t believe we’re about to have a thread of “you can’t have fat pirate skeletons”…who cares?! XD

  • @callmebackdraft irl there are differences, bones a little wider, thinner... but they do not vary according to weight but with their formation, the most that occurs is a slight enlargement. And these differences are not even close to what we have in the game, there every character is strong or thin depending on their bones apparently lol

But realism isn't the problem, it's just that it would be easier to develop clothes for standardized models, we would look more like skeletons from the game and I really don't like the distortions in the skull.

Your bones were formed like this, if you gain weight they will not change, there are variations in the formation of the skeleton but not major changes after they form.

I also can’t believe we’re about to have a thread of “you can’t have fat pirate skeletons”

It has nothing to do with that, I wanted standardized characters for the reasons I mentioned.

be easier to develop clothes for standardized models, we would look more like skeletons from the game and I really don't like the distortions in the skull.

But if that's not going to happen, at least standardize the skulls

  • @lleorb the skeletal structure of fat/obese people actually changes.

Has it does for highly muscular humans

Yes becoming more fat will change your skeleton

  • @callmebackdraft No, skeletons do not increase with weight, their shape and structure do not change, the most that occurs is a mineral and density gain..

It never changes shape to be proportionate to the body.

  • @lleorb more fat tissue around the bones ,for instance in the chest cavity will force the (in this example rib cage) to expand.

A heavier frame also creates denser and thicker bones, whereas a smaller stature creates a lower density in the bones.

The muscoskeletal frame adapts to the environment it is being put into, more weight to cary = stronger bones, less weight to carry = weaker bones. Simple example send a human to the ISS and see the atrophy happen to both their muscles as well as their skeleton

  • @callmebackdraft That's what I mentioned, "mineral gain and density"...

This is very different from your bones literally growing to keep up with weight or mass gain, adapting to your body.

In the cases you mentioned, the chest expands with pressure, the bones do not grow, in the absence of gravity the ligaments expand, the bone does not change size, as resistance increases, the density increases.

    this doesn't exist lol

  • @lleorb yes yes yes please 😭🙏 would be so good to have the option for a normal standardised skeleton skull, like the one bone chiller uses. I just wanna look exactly like all the other skeletons

  • Arguments of realism aside the reason he's saying this is so we can get more skeleton curse cosmetics.
The fact that the skeleton curse adapts to the player model is why every skelly cosmetic added is actually like what, 16 different iterations of the same piece, rather than 1 or 2. They have to actually make these cosmetics for every single size and shape or male and female body sculpt, they dont just resize and snap to frame.

(AFAIK; if not then they really have no excuse for not adding more in over 2 years)
