Suggestions for how to keep people away in High Seas?

  • Any tips for how to deter people from attacking you out of nowhere in HS? Certain emissary flag? Passive ship name? I've tried just talking to people attacking me, but they never listen when I say I'm peaceful and am just trying to grind reputation...

    Ship name ideas:
    DontShootPlz
    ImPeacefulDontShoot
    FriendlyPartyBoat
    FriendlyRepGrinder
    FriendlyGirlNoShooty

I just want to grind rep, but people just sink me out of nowhere for almost no pay off, even when I don't fire back and just tell them I'm friendly while dancing on my ship...

  • @rednoodlepanda there isn’t anything you can do, say or type that will keep the blood thirsty tdm pirates from attacking you. For some reason this game has players that love to fight pirate v pirate. Hourglass matches are mainly all naval now, so when a crew finds an easy target they kill on sight.

Keep an eye and sail the other way

    Cheers 🍻

Don’t play HS and go play SS

Besides that. Nobody has any reason to “leave you alone”. But a few things tend to say “I’m not a fighter”

    • cannons up
    • white flare
    • default sails
    • classic white flag/alliance flag

But people tend to use these to trick and setup

  • Wear what you want.
Stay away from world events and beacon treasures.
    Turn in often.
Keep supplies minimal. Especially chain shots.
If you play on console make sure to set to console/controller preferred.
Don't stay at one island too long.

  • @burnbacon I'm just trying to get to pirate legend. Im super close, but need 10 levels of merchant alliance now, so I can't do SS.

  • If you really want to be alone in High Seas try staying in the Devils Roar, the Reputation and Gold is very good and you can get your 10 levels in merchant very quickly by grabbing a stack of Captained Devils Roar Cargo Run Voyages.

10 should cost you 8'000 Gold but if you can get a server without a Reaper 5 on it you can put up a merchant emissary flag and make up to 560'000 Gold in 10 Voyages.
Nobody will bother you out in the Roar but just stay away from volcanoes and try not to damage the cargo.
Each Voyage should take you about 3 to 5 minutes so work fast and you could be making millions per session without seeing a single ship on the horizon.

  • @vaughnsot

Thanks for the tip! Are there sunken vessel voyages in Devils Roar? I know they're not super fast, but they're fun as heck and get a metric ton of loot. But I guess then I'm more at risk of losing it all to angry volcanoes...

  • @rednoodlepanda You might have to get lucky to get the route but there are 3 in the Roar, you may be at more of a risk of being near volcanoes unless your final destination is near Morrows Peak.

How can you tell what level a reaper rep is in a server? And are you just talking about the cargo delivery missions you get from the MA representative?

On your map you can see the number of stripes on their banner - each stripe is a level.
