Chest of Ancient Tributes
I think it would be good for the game if they did a currency/price overhaul.
Though do be aware that the Chest of Ancient Tributes was released way after Mermaid Gems and so the value assigned to the chest was with the knowledge of how much gems could get you. Meaning they intended the chest to only be slightly more than a red gem.
Gems are actually harder to come by now than when the chest was introduced. Originally, before season 9, you could find them washed ashore and floating in shipwrecks and barrels of plenty, hence the text in the image. But now you only get them from the loot pool of activities and destroying the statues, which now makes the text in the image false. Though the statues now have the random chance of giving you 2 or 3, when originally it was always just 1. Gems are still less common than before season 9.
@haltzo5045 the pic is .....to be fair both are easy to get the vaults can be solved with only one token very quickly
@wonderwaffle559 right the hardest part is the map and even that's a cake walk it's mostly annoying sailing island to island hopping for the red X to finally show up
I mean, the last few weeks any island i pass by has at least 1 mermaid statue so the gems being hard to come by.. not really.
Every skelly ship drops at least one mermaid gem, a legend of the veil voyage usually has a couple, sea forts have at least 1 in the top room..
So i have to disagree that they are hard to come by :)Agree with the OP. Anything to make them feel more special than random things you come across. Just because grinders and people with 6 years in think getting one is trivial effort doesn't make it so. Soloing a sunken shrine for 30-40 mins and getting to one, or puzzling out a vault, etc. is deserving of outsized reward.
@merlin-mav-k the biggest reason I think the current price is fine is because how easy it easy to earn gold now days vs year one as for going anything solo you choose to play on hard mode ....but to get the chest fast find a coin install it it will give you the last pillar then just match up the remainders you also have 3mins before the door fully closes you can get a good chunk of the chest solo if you ignore the piles of gold
