Skeleton Curse cosmetics need to be separated instead of an entire top half or bottom half.

  • Basically the skeleton cosmetic unlocks should be separated into body parts just like a regular clothing would be as:

    • head
    • torso
    • gloves
    • pants
    • shoes
    • accessories
    • bone colors

I love the skeleton curse as much as the next guy, but I wish we could mix-and-match gloves or torsos like let me wear gloves without my body looking like it came from MTV's welcome to my crib show.

...and maybe give us more skeleton cosmetics while we are at it? I'd love to have black bone color or a ghostly-black bones like one of those shadow skeletons, or a shiny blue bones that gives a loud coin noise everytime you walk so everyone has a reason to hunt you down for ancient coins.

  • No cosmetics should look like existing PvE elements we regularly fight against. We should stand out so players know who to aim for in combat situations, and not to cheese mechanics for unfair gameplay.

  • @tesiccl I see no reason not to make curses more similar to PVE, literally only the most beginners wouldn't know the difference, and for a short time.

Our movement, the way we walk, run, jump, everything already differentiates us from NPCs, and the gamertag so I don't see why our appearance can't be the same.

Some players have even used the ghost curse on the siren song to confuse people and Rare said it was cool...

  • @siegnard Customization is like this for the sake of limitation, just as they cannot create hoods or capes.

But I think that if the curse were standardized, instead of adapting to the body, perhaps it would be possible to implement what you are asking for. Since they would have to model items for only one body size.

Pardon me for the aggressive wording but that reasoning feels disingenuous and frankly, quite unsmart. I am honestly a bit baffled that your first thought to having more options is to reject it because having less options lets you stand out? How does that even make sense when everyone would just wear the same cosmetics from how lacking the customization options are?

Also, cheesing mechanics for unfair gameplay? I beg your pardon? are you also saying that wearing black clothes or having a ghost curse is unfair game play then because it makes you blend into the surroundings? Is it unfair gameplay if we used the Eternal Freedom or the Cursed Ferryman set because it would look too similar to the Black Pearl and the Flying Dutchman, or the Ashen Dragon set because it would look too similar to the Ashen Dragon Ship that you encounter during PvE?

    Yeah, I don't buy it.

I can understand that, but it is a bit odd to give such limitations when regular customization gives you such a wide range of option: Not just clothing parts but even accessories such as peg legs, hooks, tattoos and many more. I feel that it wouldn't be much of a stretch to have Skeleton curse customization to be similar.

And this suggestion isn't asking to allow regular clothes to be used on skeletons, but more so on separating existing skeleton cosmetics such as the Rib Caged upper body and the Wheel-built upper body to let players mix and match gloves and shoes at the very bare minimum.

  • @siegnard

Clarification - Let us be able to wear the gloves and shoes from these skeleton cosmetics on its own, or being mix-and-matched with each other.

  • @siegnard I think the problem is resizing the body while the bones are thin, this must cause some kind of problem when creating clothes that are larger and at the same time tight enough to not look weird.

That level 130 jacket shows some back bones sticking out of the fabric when I use some emotes, even for already made cosmetics they can have some visual bugs.

Hmm, I think you got it confused here - The thread isn't meant to ask to transfer regular cosmetics into the Skeleton Curse customization like many previous old suggestions.

It is to separate existing skeleton cosmetics in a way that allows you to just equip the gloves and shoes or mix and match gloves from one skeleton set into another.

The problem you are explaining I doubt would be a problem as these are merely modifying existing skeleton sets which have already been made with the bones in mind.

Pardon me for the aggressive wording.

You may not like what I’ve said in response to the spam of suggestions today, but I don’t need to be talked down to in your replies.

  • @siegnard I was referring to any clothing created for skeletons that exists or will be made.

If you take the sets that already exist and separate them, what would the crab claw look like? like the jacket if it had to adapt to a belt? Or rather, how right would a belt look without you wearing any clothes?

It's like a costume, it works as long as the pieces are glued together, but if you separate them, it may not look natural on a skeletal body.

It's just speculation, I absolutely want them to be more complex than they are now, but considering they didn't make any completely closed clothes, a jacket with long sleeves I think there must be obstacles to that.

Ah, I see what you are getting at.

for the crab claw, they will have to think of keeping the torso as it is as 1 set (when you pick the crab torso, it fills both the body and glove section), or edit it so that the claws can exist individually from the torso. to be honest crabs commonly lose their claws due to a lot of circumstances so it shouldn't really look out of place.

as for the jacket, you're right. I don't think it is easy to incorporate the belts separately as it would require a lot of effort to update each belts. I think it would be fair to leave the belt as it is - attached to whatever set they are in.

    it is still possible though.

While I agree we need more skeleton curse pieces there shouldn’t be any sound effects that would confuse you for an ancient skeleton.

Me personally, I want to see the glowing blue skeleton color that you see in all the skeletons in Monkey Island tall tales. Maybe even give us pieces of the skeleton lords from the 9 original tall tales or give us pieces of the Cursed Captain from the Pirates Life tall tales. I’d say lock them behind Tall Tale commendations requiring the PvP community to complete all the tall tales in order to get a few new curse pieces.

Yeah, I agree with this. The ancient skeleton part was more for a funny joke because why would you want to put yourself on a disadvantage by making the noise of your feet claps loud for a bit? Because that'd be hilarious.

To be honest most of my suggestions regarding cosmetics go more in line with a pay-to-lose mindset than strictly just no stat changes.

  • @siegnard

I get your idea about separating the skeleton curse into more pieces for more customization but Rare isn’t going to separate them.

I have to be honest, given that it’s been well over a year since the release of the hourglass I’m surprised that we haven’t gotten at least one new piece of skeleton curse cosmetic. I suspect we won’t get anything until we get a new hourglass upgrade. For those who remember the Arena, after about a year the Arena was revamped and new cosmetics and commendations were given. I suspect that something similar will happen to the hourglass mode.

The only reason why I think the Hourglass hasn’t been revamped yet is because not everyone has the base curses and those who do have stopped playing hourglass because of the cheating issues. Honestly, I think Rare is spending more time coming up with anti cheats then developing the mode as a whole. I can understand why.

I can see that you are deeply affected by this, and it seems that you carried this resentment into other topics.

Again, I apologize if my earlier statement sounds aggressive, but your first response can be seen as highly disingenuous and self-contradicting which does not feel genuine at all.

In the end, I am simply stating the inconsistencies of your response compared to the content that we have on the game so far which does not shun from it.

Sadly I can see this to be the case. In the end it is up to Rare to implement it, but I do not see them planning to change anything much soon.

Honestly, the only thing we can do is to just parrot the same sentiment here to keep the suggestions alive and hope rare would consider it.

  • @siegnard I’ve been around on this forum for too long to give well thought out, complex answers and debate to suggestions from users who are newer. It’s not arrogance, being disingenuous, seeing them as inferior, or mean. It’s tiresome repetition. Just don’t take it personally on this thread or the other.

    No worries, I understand.

  • I thought originally we would get perhaps one skeleton cosmetic per season, in-tune with the theme of that particular season, but alas.

Per the OP's suggestion of expanded slots like gloves and belts; I dont think we need that level of diversification, but just a wider selection overall.

Personally I would like to see some more sea or sailing - based options rather than the extremely wacky designs we have thus far.

Anchor through the chest, swords through the ribs, seaweed sets, decrepit naval attire, rotting sailer gear, etc.

Tbh, I'd just be fine if they added just gloves and shoes option if its too difficult for them - the selection would still be the same, but there are wider customization options between each set.

And yeah, ditto on the new options. Honestly, I'd even accept it if the new skeleton cosmetics are placed under the Pirate Emporium at this point :^/
