Don’t expect to see to many casual grade v emissaries out there..

  • This afternoon I did some testing.

I raised a gold hoarder emissary flag and started doing the small island x mark the spot voyages with two digs per island.

I never dove a single time.

I made sure not to interact with any other treasure other than the sailor’s chests that you get when you do the small island x mark the spot voyages.

It took me completing 13 voyages - digging up 26 sailor’s chests and harpooning them aboard the ship - to reach grade v emissary status.

The chests sold for around 1,015 gold base value x 26 chests x 2.5 emissary bonus = roughly 66,000 gold

The emissary quest you get for reaching grade v gold hoarder status consisted of 10 items 6 baron’s chests as 3 digs on 2 large islands and 4 admiral’s chests as 2 digs on 2 small islands.

The 10 chests sold for roughly 46,000 gold.

    Feedback:

Nobody should have to do 13 voyages to hit grade v emissary status.

The loot variety you get from voyaging has never been lower.

With the gold hoarder x mark the spot quests you get one type of chest depending on if you choose a small or large island which is not something I prefer at all. I like some variety to my digs.

Also please consider buffing the number of digs on small islands to 3 and large islands to 5. The way it is now is super inefficient.

You could have some rng to the voyages and make it so it’s 3-6 digs per small island and 5-10 digs per large island with a 10 min cooldown before you can place another quest of the same type to prevent spamming.

Add rng to the loot that we get some old some new while maintaining a minimum target gold value for each voyage.

And then you would really have my attention and I would enjoy x marks the spot voyages a lot!

I got OoS to G5 in 10 minutes diving to start. I haven't seen a change in payouts so far.

  • I wont tell you how to play the game, cause everyone's allowed to experience their own way. But if you ignore all other loot while you sail from one small treasure hunt to another, it's gonna take a long time to hit grade V. Also, it's the shortest/easiest voyage for the Gold Hoarders. It shouldn't come as a surprise that it's not very efficient for emissaries.

  • Just for reference, I did part of a 6 piece vault last night, visited 4 islands before I got the X, and by the time I dug up the key and hit the outpost, I was just about emissary 4 in about 35 minutes (granted, I'm not necessarily a casual)

  • Kind of a good thing imo.

Ideally the skilled pvpers should be hunting someone like me more than casual players. Example, a grade 5 over a grade 3.

If I sink or lose or win none of it really matters for my stage of piracy.

It's not a thing for cheesing/serious grinding but it's alright for casual play It'll be better if they ever get to a point where they reduce all of the coordinated cheesing outside of organic play.

  • @spoopy9host

Every voyage should feel lucrative and rewarding. I’m going to go through all of them eventually and post feedback.

This post is specifically referring to gold hoarders x mark the spot voyages.

  • @jumpycobra80754
I totally get that, however, id argue that the lowest rank voyage is more of a jumping off point. if you avoid all the emergent loot, and only do the lowest rank voyage, you're gonna have a hard time justifying it's worth. Not that your take is wrong, it just doesn't seem unexpected to me. I wish that it randomized the loot to a sailors chest and anything above. I also agree that it would be nice to have 3 treasures and 5 treasures for both X marks the spots

  • @jumpycobra80754 your not supposed to hit grade V fast also there's other quest that you can gain emissary levels fats yes new players won't know that and that part of learning a new game so what

  • The 13 voyage mark is a bit flawed when you consider the fact that voyage islands are closer than ever, and before voyages would give you between 1 and 8 islands to go to and even still would take a lot of islands to get to grade 5 when voyaging. They traded the number of islands in voyages and distance sailed for voyages out for single island voyages and closer islands.

I would also consider not touching extra stray loot as a mistake since no normal player will avoid taking that loot, and it would be more unlikely to go to 13 islnds and not find stray loot. So you really do have to factor it in. As well people may not just do the lowest tier gold hoarder voyages, i do the bigger ones every chance i get unless its on an island i dont like. So the smaller voyages are more just "i didnt like the large voyage it gave me" options.

It really doesnt take any more time to get to grade 5 than it did before voyaging around, its just that there are less islands per voyage, which is not bad.

  • @pithyrumble That's because you did a world event, anything else but the skelly fleet or skeleton captains is not worth it at all. Unless they updated and increased the loot when the server was down this afternoon.

Doing two Ashen Athena's to get to grade 5 Athena, is (or was ?) 15-17 quests total, if you're lucky but unlucky in getting some extra opportunities for rep.

I think that is perfect. Grade 5 should be a honor and worth the time. Not something you can simply drop on two islands and done.

But if you combine it with sinking skeleton ships, hunting megs and doing other stuff instead of the straight path. You can easily reach G5 without really trying.

Players are expecting to much. It suppose to be “rewarding” and spend time ingame to achieve greatness. Not dig two holes and gain high rewards.

    I welcome to grind.

  • @jumpycobra80754 Lucrative is subjective. What’s lucrative for the dude with 66 million is very different to the guy who’s just bought his first ship. If you make more money with less time/effort/risk, they’ll have to put the prices of cosmetics up because otherwise what do people do when they’ve bought everything they want?

The question really is “Did you have fun playing the voyages?” If no, then the game is really in a bad place and people need to deliver feedback. If you did enjoy the time spent getting the treasure, it really doesn’t matter that much what you made. The fun was the reward.

This game was conceptualized as a sandbox. That’s why there are no levels, skills, gear. Everyone is always on the same level. The point is not to accumulate the most gold. That’s not how you win the game. You win the game by having fun playing it. If the only thing that’s fun for you is watching your gold counter go upward, you might be better off playing a free to play mobile game.

I did not do an event. Just the crew battle and multi captain battles

  • @pithyrumble
Well yeah thats what i said. Those r the only that give decent loot. Everything else is nerfed into the ground.

  • @pithyrumble 10 minutes? Please...it's factually impossible...

  • i think people forget what you had to do to get a GH grade 5 before season11.

Bro, it's driving me crazy seeing these comments, and she will say anything just to be right, no stats, nothing concrete. I sincerely think I just found the source of the problem with Sea of Thieves' bad updates. This forum

  • Been doing some Oos sessions and have had no difficulty at all in reaching grade 5.

    Also not been diving anywhere!

I head to a small island, kill a skeleton captain, then vote down a bounty for 3 skeleton captains on a large island which so far, has always been very close. (no longer have to search for them, as the clue to their exact location is on the quest) and then hit a small island again and rinse and repeat.

I also make sure I interact with everything on each island such as bottles, mermaid statues and anything washed up, and on the seas heading to each island, attack all skeleton ships and megs and shipwrecks, as all of this increases your level quickly.

I end up with a sloop full of loot and then head to cash in. Collect emissary quest and then go do those.

Next up if you have time. Vote down gold hoarders and then get to work on your bottle quest maps you have found. Your hit grade 5 very quickly hitting those islands. Can even vote down a voyage in-between maps to enhance loot.

I have never been happier playing. I love looting everywhere I visit and it's never been more rewarding than it is now for my playstyle.

  • For GH right now, shipwrecks and bottle quests are the meta. OOS can also sometimes benefit from them, but the skull drop rate seems to be less.

  • They ruined gold hoarder when they did away with the OG voyage system. Once the voyages got put on the boat and everyone's voyages are the exact same now gold hoarders aint even fun anymore. Used to be able to get 10 x on one map with 2 maps like that in the quest radial.
