Make more faction unlockable cosmetics between levels 100-500

  • Whilst I'm aware we have rings available for each distinction they aren't very noticeable and not compatible with the skeleton curse. We need sails for each company that improve with each distinction. Imagine the pure fear you would feel as you see a distinction five reaper sails barreling towards you on the horizon. Perhaps more skeleton curse cosmetics available for dedicated reapers or costumes that get better for all the other trading companies. Like why should I spend a thousand hours maxing out a trading company for something only I will notice if I wasn't a skeleton. I also don't believe more casual players have the patience to grind for one reward per hundred levels.

  • I agree to add something meaningful for grind past 100 level for each company, in general.

    There is no point in spending hundreds of hours for actually nothing.

    The best grind I've enjoyed the most in this game was while saving up money for Dark Adventurer Sails. It's the most lucrative item in the game and it gives you slightly better vision. Nothing game-breaking, but it is a benefit that is worth getting.

    I would like to see reskins of DA sails to be reckoned with for each of the companies ... because nobody cares about having a doll on your ship, right?

    I'm grinding for the dolls. Kinda sad there isn't an Athena or HC one.

  • @pithyrumble Yeah, I got that that some people might be interested in, but not the majority.
    This game is PvEvP full loot game, not a Sims simulator. It is nice to have such things, but not as a main content. :)

  • I'd say the update just created a foundation for adding rewards in the future but... hourglass.

  • I like the design because it incentivizes a reasonable season goal without going extreme about it.

    It leads people to enjoying the short term goal of 100 for rewards without feeling as tempted to hit 500 anytime soon. Sure the same group that rushes everything will rush here but this is a very casual friendly design and organic play friendly design.

    This is nothing like hg because players have to sacrifice a lot of piratical freedom to level hg. Anyone can play largely however they want to level the factions in random adventure.

    I really really enjoy how they designed it. I think it's healthy for the environment.

  • I honestly think it would be good if rings worked for skelly curse as well and if you get new skelly cosmetics between 100 and 500 for all trading companies as well as regular old cosmetics (and make the costumes separate pieces rare)

    I agree with this. The big draw here is that playing normally will organically progress those distinctions over time. It absolutely doesn't have to be a grind unless you want it to be.

  • Putting stuff in between goals on a long grind seems to be an aspect rare has missed lately, especially when you look at the grind for hg, but im sure eventually they can add some stuff

    This is different imo because it's largely just a system of activity rather than a specific grind. People can level factions in many different ways and styles.

    Ultimately a main point was letting veteran players have numbers go up again to see numbers go up again. It should be organic and without temptations to rush it.

    For hg it makes a lot of sense because it doesn't have widespread appeal and requires activity to even somewhat work ok.

    Leveling factions is just playing the game and feeling that little boost of -number going up- at the middle and/or end of a session.

    Ledgers give rewards every few months for that activity.

    Going to go to 90 for the ship crests and then stop.

    Grind to 500, lol, who thinks up this stuff??

    Even as it is designed there are multiple well known people in the community doing full on cheesing to rush all of this new stuff which will then lead to burn out and constant complaining just like it has for years. That then leads to a lot of other people following the strats and tactics, rather than just having fun long term.

    This is a really solid season for pve and adventure and they should do what they can to minimize the appeal of cheesing and just let people organically enjoy SoT again.

    Veteran players finally get some of what they have been asking for and they are doing their best to burn out early on it lol, like usual.

    Lots of cheesing and exploiting right now and it's very unfortunate because it's gonna turn something really good into a lot more of the same in SoT.

    The way i see it, its not good to balance things around people who cheese stuff and ruin the game for them selves. And even more so i dont think its a good thing to not add new stuff for legit players just because of the few people who ruin the game for them self.

    It doesn't just ruin the game for themselves, it ruins the morale in the community when they spend a week cheesing and exploiting and the rest of the season yelling about how broken the game is in one of the social areas of sot after they took the fun from their own sessions.

    It's become a long lasting cycle of loud people tearing down the vibe because they burn themselves out.

    As far as i see it, anyone using exploits should have some sort of action taken against them, like, rare showed with guilds that they can revert progress that was done through cheesing. Way i see it, if anyone exploits progress, they should have it reset. And if the exploit is severe enough, give them a yellow beard and progress reversion.

    Rather than balancing things around bad apples, i think they should be taught that they are the ones in the wrong. I really dont think good things should be held back just because of those people.
