Whenever, I'm trying to join on my friend via the xbox console companion it shows I can invite him to a xbox party but not join his game. It's greyed out.
Is there a way to fix this issue or perhaps download something I'm missing?
Just some useful information: I'm using Windows 10 - Fully updated. I updated the xbox console companion via microsoft store.

@psycho7607 The XBox Console Companion is deprecated and was replaced by the XBox App. Assuming you're not referring to the app by the old name, you'll probably want to make sure you're using the correct app.
If that isn't the problem, your friend might have privacy settings enabled that prevent you from joining. This can either be in the XBox account settings, or in Sea of Thieves settings.
Also if your friend is on console he needs to be sailing in All Seas and not Console+Controller only.
Xbox console companion is now just Xbox App. Just used to calling it that. We're both on PC playing SOT. There are times were we can in fact join and other times it restricts us. As of the last update, its almost always restricting the ability to join high seas and safe seas. The only bypass is Guild Sailing but on safer seas (get some commendations) it's not possible due to the prevention of using guild ships.
Both of our SOT settings are set to allow anyone to join on us if they're friends.
