Some type of Photo /film Mode

@gussemke this could be around the corner tbf. Rare have been teasing pictures on their social media platforms that use a background blur that seems to be taken using the in game engine and not via an editing software. And with the 2024 sneak peak coming up on the 20th (their 6th anniversary) about the upcoming stuff for this year, we may get confirmation of this photo mode you ask about. I truly hope we get this, as SoT’s environment is absolutely gorgeous and should be heightened even more by an intuitive photo mode all players can take advantage of.

Got to be careful with these tools.

Some could use it to scan an island or use it to peek behind walls.

Or worse. When you’re in the middle of setting up someone attacks and I’m sure it wouldn’t be an easy way to back out. (Looking at your UI)

They did suggest it for Safer seas.
But the danger in high seas would be kinda fun.

Mind you, I don't agree with a 3rd Person mode. But a photo mode could be nice...

@burnbacon Please take a moment to actually read the posts you reply to. The person said it would be in safer seas.

Mostly only for Safer Seas, as in that mode you and the crew are all alone. No one can shoot you in the back, apart from emergent encounters with Skellys and Phantoms. But to sketch it out a bit further.

You can select the owl ( the camera in this case) from the emote wheel. Once you place it down, you can interact with it, x to set it to that positon. Y - to move it around a bit and let it hover, or sit somewhere.

With that as an option you can get viewpoints you normally couldnt reach. As this tool is not intended to spy on people, but to immortalize the memories we all made. An in game Camera in the jacket of an Owl.

Maybe even further down the road, an empty sandbox mode, where we can drop Lore/NPC/Character models in the world, pose them, maybe we can even record lines to make their mouth move. With a little timer bar, where you can set certain emotes for the model to perform. Or maybe a selection of movement options, so we can recreate stuff that the animation team makes for the cutscenes, but in this case our own memories and our own movies or SoTShot Projects.

We can all imagine different ways how this would work out. But for now, it was just me kicking a ball up high, to make it known to the community 😜 i am glad to see that every reply is positively themed and everyone can see something like this eventually happen.

Lets all just spar around a bit and try to make this a reality.

Sometimes we wanna take pictures or movies, but sometimes we wanna wind down and chill, so we can place the camera somewhere, even in unconventional angles and viewpoints, without being burdened by that pesky AFK timer.
