Stop server merging until after there is no loot on board, or don't server merge me onto a tile with another player(s) already there.

  • Got to the outpost at the soverigns and was about to unload the stack, got the server merge text. Server merged and found another ship already there, 3 player gally. Couldn't even turn in anything and was spawn killed. I was already parked and ready to hop up on the ladder to turn in stuff. What a waste of my time.

This shouldn't be a thing. Everything else restricts to without treasure onboard. But this is a whole new level of RARE'D.

So forced server merging needs to have restrictions like everything else. Don't spawn me beside a player(s) at an outpost when I pulled up to an empty one, or 2 don't server merge until there is no loot on board. One or the other or both. But after stacking for 3 hours and was as safe as I could be in limiting combat, you push me into a conflict that wasn't going to be there in the first place. I wouldn't have tried to 1vX either.

And stop server merging me to an EU server with 150+ ping, your game plays like trash with 100+ ping.

    Stop trolling your playerbase please.

  • @mrunsjaja said in Stop server merging until after there is no loot on board, or don't server merge me onto a tile with another player(s) already there.:

Don't spawn me beside a player(s) at an outpost when I pulled up to an empty one,

AFAIK this shouldn't happen, I'd submit a ticket so hopefully in the near future they'll adjust the merging / spawning mechanism.

  • 1 bad experience with a chance of happening so low it rarely ever happens.

  • Put it back to merging when anchored.

  • This definitely is a rare thing to happen it’s one bad experience g don’t get to angry g doubt it will happen again fr

  • Years ago, I was on a sloop when a sweaty level 5 Reaper brigantine server-merged right behind me after I finally got the Ashen Chest of Legends. It took hours to complete the voyage, and I ended up uninstalling the game for a week or two, lol! But to be fair, I played with a bad teammate who always blamed me for mistakes, but 99% of the time it was their fault, so there were kind of two reasons to uninstall, lol.

  • A few years ago, my crew and I were parked at the pier selling loot by hand (sovereign wasn't a thing yet), and suddenly our boat just sinks, and from the sky, a fresh ship plops down in front of us, and this player comes out from the tavern. We lost our flag, and collected what we could to sell while TDMing the other player. We were mad, but similar to what happened here, those types of occurrences are extremely rare.

  • I haven't had this in years, thought it was fully patched to be honest. Had a few instances as a newer player but it is generally good at avoiding this now.

  • Honestly, I think it's only an issue at Plunder Outpost only because it looks like the only outpost that lands in the middle of two tiles. So it would bypass the occupancy tile rule.

  • @mrunsjaja obviously this shouldn't be thing but your idea wouldn't work because then people would just keep some loot on board in order to own their own personal server....easy fotd stack, commendation grinding etc

  • Yes you are right, it would have to have a total value accumulated then, so single items wouldn't stop the merge for exploiting the mechanic and staying on a dead server. I think a treasure on boat total value or something of the sort, so something the player would definately want to sell for progression and then once the threshold is reached you can be merged after a timer of sorts so it would allow you to sell before merging, especially if you were a player doing a great job at avoiding conflict, or going out of your way to an outpost with no traffic at the time. It would need to be a multi-part server merge rule, to keep exploiting to a minimum. Hmm, you would also need a maximum threshold to limit infinite stacking on a dead server. I think it's possible but it would be a complicated server merge rule for sure.

I also get your point, but it wouldn't stop players that are looking for pvp from portal jumping to dead server either it seems.

I just wish they could expand the servers significantly, be stable and potentially fill out the North East corner of the map instead of consistently relying on server merging. I haven't played long but on a bad day I can be server merged back to back up to 5 times.

An option could turn server merging into an event, notifying the players of the impending Sea of Thieves doom and would have to usher in to a safe portal within a limited amount of time, with it randomly putting you somewhere on another server for the mesh. Actually there is some cool stuff they could do with it, maybe they will use God-mode servers and then can run up to 20 crews and 80 players on a server and this server meshing could be seriously limited.
