As I attempted yet another Fort of the Damned today, I found myself not having any fun. The method itself is straightforward, dive to a Skull of Destiny, dig it up and take to the Fotd. It's just the fact that the raid has not changed since it was first added. I become Sisyphus again every time I choose to go another round - never sailing back as it is more trouble than it is worth (distance and fight wise).
I have found it is very samey and if I have do this 90 or so times so I can get the Chest of Fortune disguise I would like it to vary. For example:
- All the commendations are for lighting the flames of fate, clearing skeleton waves and the fort itself. The fort layout itself could change - similar to golden sands and the ritual orb skeleton camps - as no commendations are related to anything but the flames of fate and enemies
- Switch out Graymarrow final boss for an array of bosses which one is randomly selected which you have to fight instead.
- Have skeletons man the cannons on the fort and attack yours/others ships
- Make a network of caves underneath the fort for people who want to hide/disguise themselves in to lose pursuing players or wait for unsuspecting players
The other issue I have is with the chest of fortune itself. The Burning Blade had a Chest of Ancient Tributes appear in the spot where the Chest of Fortune used to be, however for previous world events, a substitution hasn't happened. There should be something else in the Chest of Fortune's place for the Fort of Fortune and the Skeleton Fleet, a similar replacement should happen to the fotd at the end of the season.
If nothing changes over next while, I think I'll have to wait it out for the next season for better variability to save my sanity.
