Sovereigns should accept loot period.

  • Situation: I join an open crew because I want to be social and help out another player. I spawn on a chartered (non-captain) ship and my crew mate has already left the game. The ship is sitting near the Sovereigns on Port Medrick.

A different ship with a grade v merchant flag is coming to the Port to sell right in front of me. Rather than instantly start shooting I ask if they want to form an alliance. They ignore me and just start harpooning treasure and selling to the Sovereigns. I pick up a piece of their treasure and go to sell it myself and I can’t because I joined an open crew sailing a chartered ship.

    This is just bad design.

I am a captain. I own several ships. But besides that selling to the Sovereigns is just a QoL feature meant to speed up the selling process.

Everybody should be able to sell to Sovereigns.

At first I was like well suggest a tax for non-captains but then I was like why even do that? It’s not necessary. The perks of having your own ship still stand. You get to save your ship’s livery, decorate the interior and progress pirate and ship milestones.

This change will also apply to safer seas as well so players using that mode can also sell treasure to Sovereigns - no captaincy required.

  • Siuation: I join an open crew with captaincy and the captain decides to leave the session. Guess what?

Now I lose the ability to sell to sovereigns.

You are punishing people who use open crew to be social. Bad design.

Now if the captain leaves you mine as well leave the session too rather than just waiting for someone else to join.

You can still sell to sovereigns in this case. Not sure if you get milestones, I didn't pay attention to that. My youngest and I were playing and he got bored and left. "The Captain has left your crew." I sold what we had at the sovereigns.

Are you and your kid in a guild and were you sailing on a ship pledged to the guild ? Because that would explain why you still could sell to the sovereigns.

It depends on if they quit out through the menu or just closed the game.

If they just closed the game then you can still sell for 10 mins afterwards.

Or it could be a guild ship.

Either way, yes I know I could select my own ship and then open crew but then if I want to leave my crew mate will end up losing the ability to sell to sovereigns.

It negatively impacts people who use open crew unnecessarily.

No. That is just the old ways. And today too many players are some use to captain ships and selling in one place. The second they don’t realize this when the captain leaves or in your case, there is no captain.

It not bad design. Just players get to use to easy and simple. I kind of sometimes myself sell to the factions just because it nice
Sometimes wish they do what Hunters Call did and only offer half the reward on loot. :p
