What kind of World Change would you like to see in Sea of Thieves?

  • Personally, I would like to see Merrick establishing a Town of Shark Bait on an Island of Shark Bait in a Shark Bait Cove. It would serve as a safe heaven for him, where he could meet his family, listen to Tales of Adventures Old & New, and feel the might of the Sea without being pursued by the Dark Brethren. And what about Ye?

  • Rocks clean up. It's too much of them cloging the sea. I would love to see some random spawning shallows, currents and squalls.

  • More hazards to the seas. More skeleton ship spawning and bring back the mass spawning of skeleton kegs.
Along with EoR skeletons on islands, bring back the dangerous

  • I would like to be able upgrade/downgrade a ship size and retain the ships supplies. Quite often people will leave during the sessions and I can't find a replacement and would like to continue with the remaining crew without losing those supplies and starting fresh again with base supplies. And vise versa, someone else would like to join and I would have to create a new ship with base supplies.

That might be nice for us experienced players, but it would drive away new/casual players since that would make it to difficult for them. And since those players keep the game affloat (pun intended), that would be very damaging for the future of the game.

How about you make it so players have an extra option, where next to the "set sail" botton, there will be a "extreme sail" botton or something. You will be put on the same servers as everybody else, but with an increased difficulty for yourself. This way the more experienced players can have a more challenging environment without sacrificing the playability for the casuals.
What could be changed with that increased difficulty:
    In general

    • Sloop: enemy spawns and world events behave as if you are on a fully manned brig (so more enemies, waves, etc.)
    • Brig: enemy spawns and world events behave as if you are on a fully manned galleon
    • Galleon: the number of enemies spawned is the same as for a galleon-crew and a duo-sloop crew combined. For events with waves: an increased difficulty of waves too (perhaps for the FoF also bring back the wave with the skeleton lords?)

    Skeleton ships

    • increased chance of spawning on your ship
    • when on a sloop: 50% chance of spawning as a regular galleon, 50% chance of spawning as a sloop with a EoR-skelly in the crows nest.
    • when on a brig: 50% chance of spawning as a regular galleon, 50% chance of spawning as a galleon with a EoR-skelly in the crows nest.
    • when on a galleon: 100% chance of spawning as a galleon with a EoR-skelly in the crows nest.
    • for all ships: they can spawn using the green cursed cannonballs again instead of only the purple ones
    • for all ships: on top of the cursed cannonballs, it can also fire a bone caller.
(if it changes target and goes after someone who is in regular settings, the EoR-skelly dies and is replaced with a normal one and it can't use the green cursed cannonballs or bone callers anymore)

    Ghost ships

    • increased chance of using wraith balls against you

    Megalodon

    • increased chance of spawning on your ship (with exception of the shrouded, that stays the same chance)
    • the time between attacks is reduced
    • damage done to your pirate when hurt by it's bite is increased

    Dig quests

    • All digs spawn enemies
    • Skeletons never are without weapons anymore and can spawn with EoR's
    • Skeletons can spawn in all types (gold, leaves, etc.) and not only regular ones.

Don't think Rare is ever going to do this. You're doing a world event on a sloop, get sunk by another sloop. You come back with friends on a galleon.

This would require a voyage to get around server size issues. You vote and dive to a unique map where new ship is waiting, it could even been a lost sea with no land and the red sea all round. Transfer supplies over and dive to new server. However, aside from curse balls & chain most supplies are easy to get. Dive to a sea fort for food, cannon balls & wood. So as much as we would like this.

We do not want to split the player base. Better option wound be to turn up the spawn rate on ships based on the crews exp and time since last sink. Have NPC threats bias themselves against better crews if two ships are fighting.

This could be done if paired up with a server change.

Imagine we have a guild hideout in a separate instance, where you start your session and have all your available guild ships docked, and where you can meet all your guildmates. Just jump on a chosen ship with proper amount of people and set sail into adventure server, or dive to it to switch ships.

Read my message again, i do not suggest splitting up the base. It's only increased/different spawn rates for your ship, but you are put on the same servers as everybody else. ;-)

Once again, this isn't something Rare wants to do, regardless if it can be done or not. Imagine seeing a brig doing a FoF on your server, and right away you can swap to a galleon and invite your friends to take it on. Or, you're trying to do the skull of siren song, and that pesky sloop you keep sinking over and over again, is now a galleon.

  • Let us equip multiple full sized pets.
Along with an ignore pets option qol update.

    Armadillo pets.

  • I'd like more of the changes to be "opt-in" or "opt-out".
    Example;
Another pirate crew cannot use the armory on my boat. I'd like that to be an optional choice.

I'd like the Kraken to actually be a threat. Dangerous. Scales to crew size & SHIP count.
    Example;
If one ship is being chased closely by another, the kraken could spawn on BOTH of them. The bigger crew will receive a greater challenge.

I'd also like the random ROCKS in the world to evolve & change. So whilst some may look like another boat shaped rock we all know, you need to check due to the random rocks around the game world slowly evolving.

  • I would love for the Reaper’s Hideout to be upgraded. Think about it! The Reaper’s Bones are a force to be reckoned with, a match for the Outposts and the other Companies. Why haven’t they seen an upgrade? Other than a large chair and Flameheart's arrival, there hasn’t been an expansion for the Hideout since Season 8. And even then, it was exclusive to high-level Reapers that also want to fight (and win) at least 120+ battles in Hourglass (which could be better, but that’s for another time!)
I think the Hideout should be made equivalent to an Outpost, but in its own style. A bridge connecting the two main islands, a new, large, though narrow cave system with secrets and Easter eggs accessible from the marsh island. New Weapons, Equipment, Shipwright, and Clothing shop. More barrels! A storage manager (to sell crates in place of the Merchant Alliance rep at Outposts), and Reaper NPCs populating the shops. Ideally, I would say the shops and buildings should be made of shipwrecks, salvaged, repaired, and combined.
The Servant and Flameheart would remain in the original building, but the Servant would no longer accept Treasure for Gold. That would go to the Treasurer. In a shipwreck-like building with harpoons, like the Sovereigns but not royal, taking Tribute for Captain Flameheart. I know this is a long post, but bear with me a minute longer! When loading into the game, there would need to be a new menu before ‘Setting Sail’, to make port at the Reaper’s Hideout or an Outpost. This way, loyal Reapers could just start out at the Hideout, instead of having to sail all the way from an Outpost. Plus there should be more items for the Reapers. A full Clothing, Equipment, Weapon, and Ship Decoration set. Also, recolours of these with the Regal Reaper set, as well as a Servants of the Flame set.
With more cosmetic sets and a fuller feel to the Reaper’s Hideout, maybe even a tavern, it would feel much more fair to the allure of all of the cosmetics and content on Outposts. This would also help pirates that are loyal to Flameheart and the Reaper’s Bones show their loyalty and devotion to the faction. It may be a large update, but even with the construction taking a year, or it being a Season 20+ concept, I think it is very reasonable to ask for this scale of a ‘buff’ or upgrade for the other half of Pirates in the Sea of Thieves. Plus, Port Merrick exists, doesn’t it? Maybe it won’t be a Reaper Fortress/Port town, but that doesn’t mean the existing island needs to be neglected.

Regardless, this isn't something they'd seriously do, even with a server change or not.

  • @europa4033 do you have an argument to back this statement up?

  • Random events at sea such as dolphins leaping near the ship, a whale surfacing, seagulls swooping down onto players. Just things to keep those long voyages a bit more interesting but not so common that you never have a moment of rest.
