The Orb of Secrets and a Burning Lesson

  • I wouldn’t call myself a seasoned combatant, but even I know when things are going sideways. While solo battling phantoms inside a Sea Fortress, the distant sound of cannonballs smashing into my ship, and wishing chain shots flying through the air had confirmed my worst fear: things had gone terribly, terribly wrong.

It gets worse. Aboard my sloop, tucked away in a safe spot (or so I thought), was an Orb of Secrets—a prize so shiny, and valuable it practically screams to be stolen. I bolted out of the fortress, greeted by the sight of my ship ablaze and already on its way to the depths. There was no saving her. Thinking fast, I grabbed the orb, dashed back into the fortress, dodging the phantoms that swirled around me, the phantoms could wait—I had bigger problems, like a determinated and viscous pirate. I stashed the prize within the fortress, in a place where only a desperate pirate like me would think to look.

Moments later, I watched from a distance as my poor ship succumbed to the flames and sank beneath the waves. With neither time nor skill on my side, I found the pirate responsible for sending my beloved ship to the depths. Fueled by vengeance, I engaged them in battle… only to the same fate as my ship.

The Ferryman welcomed me aboard his vessel, and though my pride was bruised, I took solace in the knowledge that death in the Sea of Thieves is as fleeting as a whisper on the wind.

Before long, I was back in the world of the living with my freshly risen ship, albeit far from the fortress where hopefully my treasure lay still hidden.

I set a course back to the fortress. To my relief, the area was eerily quiet—no ship in sight. Better still, a scattering of supply barrels floated near the wreckage of my sloop, a small consolation for my earlier loss. I salvaged what I could, but dread lingered. Had they found my orb?

Bracing myself, I re-entered the fortress. Sure enough, the phantoms weren’t about to give me a warm welcome. I fought my way through their ranks, finally defeating their pompous Spanish captain. With the fortress now silent and empty of enemies, I made my way to the hiding spot.

And there it was. My orb. Its ruby-red glow gleamed like a victory flag, my orb was safe, a testament to my quick thinking and perseverance.

So, to the pirate who sank my ship and sent me to visit the Ferryman—well played. But I feel the congratulations go to me, the pirate who sailed away with the prize in hand.

Fair winds and safe sailing, fellow pirates.

  • good read!

those situations are a lot of fun and make the win condition that much more rewarding.

  • Finally , a new Storyteller has arrived on the Horizon , don't hold back at throwing more stories to us , they may get not much praise at the moment but that's mainly because there was laying a very thick dustlayer on the Tavern Tales section but i know some of us read them and cherish them . Thank you for this little gem.

Little Question : Does the name Lady Kalvera comes from the Kalavera?

No it doesn't, Kalvera was a random name i had come up, although it was already taken on the Xbox and i didn't feel like having numbers at the end of my username so I added Lady because it was my first thought process.

Curiosity kills the cat what is kalavera?
