Came back to reintroduce myself to the game with some new players had a really fun time until being met with griefers/cheaters on the outpost unloading rewards now gone back to having the game uninstalled would be better if safer seas was more rewarding
Wasted time and disheartened
@musicmee golds worthless when its just cosmetics reputation needs to increase to make it worthwhile my groups uninstalled now anyway this games gotten no better
@tra1t3d in the end, it is and always will be a pvevp game. Getting attacked, sunk and your treasure stolen is not griefing. It is a legitimate part of the game
I've long been genuinely curious about this.
Do you regularly quit team games when you lose? Do you typically stick to games where you don't lose?
The reason I am curious is because most team games that include pvp result in regular losses and it's typically no big deal, just a part of the experience.
Why is that so often different here? This game is unique, in that people largely choose how much they risk and have many ways to reduce combat, as well as many opportunities to thrive without ever winning a fight.
This is why I think this game is all mindset. When starting a session without a negative view about players and design then it just becomes strategy. It's the rare situation where someone doesn't have to win or have high pvp skill to thrive. Simply adapting for the reward by reducing the risk and trying again makes pretty much everyone rich eventually.
That's the thing here, everyone that doesn't quit...succeeds. It is rare to experience an environment that fair to all of the participants.
The game design and intent for Sea of Thieves is a shared world adventure, and it always will be. Those who wish to play in the confines of Safer Seas will always have the option but we will not bring the rewards and activities in line with those of High Seas when many of the restrictions are in place due to the risk vs reward factor that is inherent in Sea of Thieves - removing any risk means rewards must be balanced accordingly.
Safer Seas will act not only as a safe space for our Tall Tale players but also for families with children who just want to pirate, for people who want to play the game but learn the ropes and it will organically feed into Adventure mode, keeping the player pool there healthy and upskilled as they've learned the mechanics.
This is not only useful for new players but also families and players with accessibility needs - the whole game suddenly becomes available in a way it hasn't before, letting them naturally progress to High Seas and become a Pirate Legend. SoT has grown a huge amount in 5 years and it can be fairly overwhelming.
The borders put in Safer Seas mean that to experience the full depth and breadth of the game you will have to hit the high seas BUT if you're playing with your family you don't have to, you can just enjoy the game and have fun as a family.
