Burning Blade Skeleton Change

  • In general I like going up against the Burning Blade, but it really sucks as a solo specifically because of the skeletons. Obviously I know why they're there and I don't think they should be removed, but the biggest issue I find when fighting burning blades is the fact that once you board, every single skeleton will stop what it's doing and crowd around you which just makes it impossible to move.

I think that a simple change that wouldn't be a huge nerf to the world event but would make it just a little bit more manageable for a solo to fight it would be to limit skeletons to where they can go. I think that like 3/8ths of the skeletons should be stuck above deck, 1/2 of them should be stuck below deck, and then 1/8th of them are able to free roam between the decks.

Obviously the numbers can change, maybe just half above and half below and none that can travel around, but I feel like it would both just make it so fighting against the burning blade is more fun because you're not just going against a huge mass of skeletons that not only can stop you from doing anything but also body block any shots to the players, but it would also mean that when the burning blade is boarded, there will still be some skeletons cannoning and repairing so it doesn't seem like the ship just completely stops all functions.

  • Get a crew together and take it on. The Burning Blade shouldn't be easy for anyone, even solo players.

The Burning Blade is the king of all ships in the game and you really need 3-4 players to crew it properly anyway.

  • @captdirtyoar Not saying it should be easy. Just more organized.

Like I said, this isn't just to benefit the solo player, but it also means that skeletons won't all just stop what they're doing to fight one person. This means that some will still be repairing and firing cannons and it makes the entire event seem more like a cooperative crew on a ship.

Also, while I agree the Burning Blade should be the "king of all ships," the fact is that it's a world event. World events all scale to match the player that's participating except for the Burning Blade. Yes it scales in terms of the crew size of the people on the bb, but the only change is the amount of skeletons you have, and it does not do anything for anybody else who'd like to participate in the event. Yes it's very possible to fight the burning blade solo, but the only way to do that short of flipping it (idk if that's still in the game I haven't ever tried it) is to kill all of the skeletons first, which is often a struggle when every one of them crowds you at the same time. If the answer to sinking a burning blade for you is just "have a galleon," I think it's a clear sign that the event needs changes.

I'm sure there are better balancing solutions to it, that's just what came into my head because it seemed like a logical way to make the event seem more fun for everybody.

  • Tools. Dart, distraction.

Those skeletons are simple minded. And easy to sword dash. Solo have it easy

Also add Bone Callers, traps, and Blunder Bombs to the mix.

  • @burnbacon An actually good point I forgot about the blow darts. You still have to break los.

But no sword dashing sometimes can be a struggle.

Still though I seriously don't see any real reason to not implement my idea.

  • You can defeat the Burning Blade solo purely with cannons. It doesn't even feel like it takes that long. I'm sure boarding and killing all the skeletons first can be faster but I never saw the need for it. If you can avoid getting fireballed it's a pretty easy fight.
