This last season was catered to pve. Id like to see a season catered to hourglass or pvp. The amount of cheating is outrageous. The viable weapon selection is minimal. Server stability lacks consistency. FPS drops while sailing. I just would like to see an impact to pvp
Hourglass and pvp updates
There have been a lot of PvP updates in the last seasons. Perhaps not catering to your specific type of PvP, but PvP nontheless:
Season 14:
- grapple gun (made boarding significantly easier)
- blowpipes (both for PvE and PvP)
- disguises (meant for tuckers)
- crouching/hanging on ships (meant for tuckers)
- traps
- merfruit (doesn't even have a PvE function)
Season 13:
- Burning Blade (was meant to be fought over, so deliberatly with PvP in mind)
- Blade of Souls (not just a loot item, but also a more powerfull sword to fight with)
Season 12:
- Double barrel pistol
- Throwing knives
- Bone Caller
- Scattershot
- Horn of Fair Winds
- Walking on harpoon ropes
Season 11:
- Diving (also frequently used by reapers to hunt down emissaries)
- Company world events (wich again was also to get fighting over world events more active, so definitely also with PvP in mind)
Season 10:
- SoSS (was meant for/to encourage PvP)
Season 9:
- Chest of Fortune (was meant to get the PvP around world events active again)
- Skull of Destiny (meant to get the FotD more used, so people could fight over it)
Season 8:
- Hourglass
Season 7 was the last season without anything for PvP (this while season 8 didn't have anything for PvE), so PvP has gotten stuff in every season for the last 2,5 years. You might not like the things they added or want to use it (just like PvE'ers might not like everything they added for them), but they definitely added things every season for the last 2,5 years.
@super87ghost I see what you're saying but noticed I said viable. Darts are not viable for pvp. Tucking I do not consider pvp. merefruit really only helps tucking, not pvp. Nobody cares for the burning blade unfortunately. After the first week of season 13, it died out
@lleorb dont really agree with updates to pvp. If anything theyve been updates to help people who are not good at pvp, have fun
@lleorb Second this. Hourglass needs some major love - new game modes, and rewards would breathe life back into it.
This last season was catered to pve
Fighting a Ancient Meg, is like fighting a Fort. It offers pvp if you contest it. You can even do Forts and never have players confront you, is that pve content?
Id like to see a season catered to hourglass or pvp
As someone said already, we got a lot of updates and tools for pvp in last few updates. Heck not even pvp, Pvpve all around.
Server stability lacks consistency. FPS drops while sailing.
So we gone from wanting HG and pvp content too "Please fix servers"
Darts are not viable for pvp.
Clearly you never fought or used them. They can be very deadly, poison and exploding darts mostly :P
Tucking I do not consider pvp
Its pvpve, part of the same tree.
merefruit really only helps tucking
Also heals, extra food.
Hourglass doesnt really need much. It just Instant pvp, if you just want pvp...dont do Hourglass. Just sail and fight every ship you come across and take the L/W when it happens. ignore the "We have no loot" complainers.

Depends what you think is viable. In essence everything could be viable, depending on your playstyle. And as i said in my post: "perhaps not catering to your specific type of PvP, but PvP nontheless"

That certainly is PvP, it's a player who takes on another player, in this case by first hiding and striking when the time is right. It might not be your style of PvP, but it is absolutely PvP. Or did you think that tucking made you part of the Evironment (PvE)? LOL

Sure, because that thought more about what a lot of the PvP-oriented players like and forget to think about the PvE-oriented players. Most PvP-oriented players want to ambush/attack a PvE-player and steal their loot and stuff. The Burning Blade, like other world events, works (in theory) on the idea that PvE-players would do the event and then the PvP-players can come and attack it and (try to) steal it.
However, they forget to think about the PvE-players. First of all a lot of them just won't be skilled enough to beat the BB when it is crewed by skellies. Second en most important: those PvE-oriented players don't like to have a huge target on them, so they tend to stay away from things that puts them clearly on the map for all PvP-oriented players to see. Because Rare forgot to take this in mind, it was bound to fail. It's the same mistake they made with the SoSS and the same reason many didn't go for world events. (And yes, the BB also have some other problems ofcourse). But the fact that it quickly died out because of this mistake, doesn't mean that this wasn't definitely a PvP-oriented update. Not every update is succesfull ofcourse.
The best way to cater to PvP is to make interesting and valuable PvE-stuff. However: the problem last seasons is that Rare then tended to cater to much to the PvP-crowd by putting a huge target on the PvE'ers back, forgetting that PvE'ers then won't want to do it. If anything, if they want to make servers more fun for PvP'ers again, they should cater LESS to PvP'ers and think more about making it interesting for PvE'ers, because they need to want to do something in order for PvP'ers to have interesting new loot to steal.
And about weapons: the problem here is that a lot of that top-PvP crowd is just addicted to their meta and doesn't want anything to disturb it. If you want others weapons/items to be viable, they will imidiately complain about it and demand that they make it the meta again. Just see how they react to the Bone Callers in hourglass, often they complain that it shouldn't be allowed in hourglass because it basicly abrupts their meta. That same crowd is also against the cursed cannonballs in hourglass.
