Finally encountered, battled and defeated THE SHROUDED GHOST!!
So this happened today.....

That clip is awesome from start to finish. So glad you got it recorded and now it's a part of your channel.
I like that you didn't anchor and it went on for a while, made it more intense. Hitting grade 5 hunter's from it is the icing on the cake. Very cool stuff.
@wolfmanbush Thanks, I'll be putting up a longer clip that is even more awesome. As I was approaching the dropped treasure, the ship that was following me was parked right in front of it. I slowed (as the seemed friendly or neutral) and as I was reaching to find my mic to tell them what happened, a skelly sloop spawned on me so had to drop sails and take him out as well. I'll post the extended clip later.
It was quite exhilarating and glad I got it all recorded.
@wolfmanbush Also anchoring was pretty much out of the question due to the other ship shadowing me at the time. I did not know their intentions and luckily they were just spectating. I wonder if they realize what they witnessed since I had no easy way to tell them at the time (mic not connected).

I'm glad it worked out.
Experiencing it is really awesome but getting a good clip/video out of it to cherish and share makes it even more special.
So many moments that can and do go wrong, so many errors and bugs that can and do happen, to have it all work out exactly when it matters most, is magical.
Here is the extended clip of the Shrouded Ghost encounter, starting from where I recovered a Breath of the Sea from the mermaid above the shrine and has the skelly sloop battle that ensued right after I took down the Shrouded Ghost.

Do you know if that other crew got credit too? They should have been close enough to get credit.
Even if they didn't shoot it they can get credit for being close enough to hear the music.
I hope they did.
@xdragonman15558 To be quite honest, I did not do much of anything out of the ordinary that might help you spawn one. Prior to the encounter I was working on Hunter's Call grind of working on the Grade V commendations for all species while I was doing a standard Athena voyage at the same time - Hunter's Emissary was active. Mainly did the Athena to wrap up one of the Buried Treasure commendations (bury 20 Athena treasures). Also had picked up 2 coral bottles along the way. So After completing the Athena, I stopped by Plunder Outpost & sold off the loot, then headed over to the underwater shrine off Thieves Haven to get that Breath of the Sea (the other goal I was working on for the session) - this was just before the encounter. Grabbed about half the loot from the shrine as well as the Breath of the Sea (the only thing I really cared about), then went back to the ship. Harpooned the treasure aboard after freeing it from the mermaid and set off towards Ancient Spire Outpost to unload the Breath, aiming to the north of Devil's Ridge. As I started in that direction I noticed a sloop incoming from that direction so course corrected to go around the southern end of the island. As I looked back to see if he was following (he was) it was then I caught the GHOST breaking the surface - had to double check since the reflection off the skin I could not tell right away if he was indeed white (been fooled before) but I also noticed the music was different so I understandably got excited (this was at the same time the old lady was bugging me about lunch and when I was going to be done, as you can hear in my audio). Almost lost him as the ship veered a little too close to Devil's Ridge, but once I veered away he engaged once again.
Like I said at the start I doubt anything I did resulted in the spawn, it is just extremely rare.
