Updates are extremely lackluster

  • I have been playing since Season 6, and right now I think the game as been so boring that I'm taking breaks because I can't find anything unique or outstanding with the game. With this newest update (adding Hunting Spears and wildlife ambience), I feel that there is no content they add that has been enjoyable. It may just be me, but this game has me waiting for updates that feel so hyped up, and once they come out, I feel that it doesn't add anything to the game except for exploits (which some of them could have been stopped from the beginning) and unnecessary bugs.

Just my opinion, I could see others getting mad over this, but with adventures removed and no unique world events, the game feels quite bare with updates compared to newer games on the market. Maybe with the new curse being added, they could spice things up a bit by making the unlocking process similar to the Sunken Sorrow curse where it's one giant quest. Better yet, make new events and limited quests/adventures with every monthly update to give new players an accurate experience on how in-depth this game is and older players new opportunities to enjoy both the lore and game.

  • Season 6 was an interesting time to start SoT because it was right before huge shifts in the game. Captaincy was a major shift, HG, Safer Seas, Diving, etc etc. Huge shifts with significant impact on the SoT experience. Even season 6 was a big season for change in SoT.

Without the history and experience of the early days of SoT it's pretty tough to see how much the game has grown in terms of development, features, content, etc.

You might just not be that into SoT anymore. It happens, sometimes we wanna be into something more than we actually are. I wasn't into SoT much early on and I ended up playing it more than just about anyone, sometimes that happens too.

Quite a few people kinda force themselves to log into this game, some kind of fomo thing. I wouldn't spend seasons trying to enjoy a game, we aren't all made for all games.

You aren't missing out if you aren't enjoying it while you are involved.

  • I do agree that the removal of adventures was quite a mistake, however, it is meant to fall lack luster at the moment as Rare as stated that season 15 is a staggered season, meaning we get new content each month in smaller amounts. So it is supposed to feel sorta empty at the moment.

  • I think we all still hold in fresh memory what happens when a developer team tries to cram too many big changes into a single update - referring to of course the state of Season 14. I'd honestly rather have staggered seasons with several smaller additions than landing everything at once and then having to disable things because of undiscovered bugs or running out of development time for deadlines. This way completionists also don't run out of things to do after the first week of the season but rather return for more things.

  • Like 60% of SoT updates do little to nothing for how interesting it is to play the game, even if a change has a lot of potential to be impactful. And they never go back to remedy that under 2 years...
