Add Ashen Lord Stitcher Jim To The Ashen Winds Spawn Pool

  • I just have a simple request and that is to see stitcher jim added to the ashen winds spawn pool as an ashen lord you can encounter. Maybe this will also be at the devil's roar in molten sands fortress taking advantage of a fort that gets barely any action. Also, I think the skeleton lord spawn pool for skeleton forts should be updated to include the normal version of graymarrow, briggsey, and the gold hoarder. Yes, we take them out in tall tales but that shouldn't get in the way of adding them for fun as recognizable skeleton lords you can encounter. I can't even remember the names of the actual fort skeleton lords like it's such a simple thing to do to give variety to an event that doesn't get any updates. I'm not asking for literal gold here rare make this happen for my own sanity. Also the shrouded ghost is a developer in a shark costume their I said it your secret is out.

  • Yes to Stitcher Jim. I don't see any reason for him to not be added as an Ashen Winds boss.

I don't think the Tall Tale bosses need to be in the fort rotation though.

  • @jpskywalker9332

Graymarrow if FOTD. Briggsy is cursed rogue. Gold hoarder is shores of gold.

And that is where they will stay.

Yeah, bc keeping the best bosses and skeleton lords that people know in tall tales instead of events that people actually play is smart right? That type of mentality and not wanting to see anything change and being so set on things is why the game is in the shape it's in. No one's really open to even small stuff like that. It would be fantastic to bring some life back into skeleton forts and you pull up and it's the gold hoarder as the boss wave maybe he drops rarer tiers of loot and the skull changes color to gold in the sky. The music could switch to his as well. Those skeleton lords are some of the most iconic bosses in the game and u want to keep them in content no one finishes. I have no problem playing the tall tales again I've done it like 5 times that's not the issue. The issue is that they can do all of these small improvements to things across the board with what's already in the game and they choose not to for reasons. The lore shouldn't keep content from being added to the game. They could expand on and ghost versions of gold hoarder and briggsy could come back from the sea of the damned. Or just add the ashen lords over to the skeleton fort spawn pool. Do something so that players actually want to participate in your events and make it worth their time. The skeleton lords we have now don't even have any story attached to them nobody knows who they are. It's a half step just to keep Graymarrow at FOTD which I'm fine with. The normal version of Gray Marrow can go inside skeleton forts which a shot of him was shown in marketing a long time ago. Also, you guys realize that Stitcher Jim was in a adventure which is like a tall tale and your fine with that lol but oh no don't bring the tall tale bosses over can't have that. Because thousands of people play tall tales and enjoy those right??? RIGHT?????

This. It was a cool model and to have it be effectively time limited is just a waste of the resource.

Same with the keg rowies. Bring those back because why not.

Rare is more worried about making it fit the storyline so players don’t complain about it being confusing.

The gold hoarder in a skeleton fort? A little confusing.

  • @xdragonman15558

They have retconned most of that original story. They are not worried about story the focus on that has been thrown out the window. That is Joe Neate era Sea Of Thieves that was focused on that. We don't get anything significant with story anymore. My whole point was people that play SoT now want more functionality to stuff thats in the game and for stuff to be updated. What rare does is add something to the game and never update it again unless theirs alot of blowback. Skeleton forts are the og sot event and they have received zero additions or changes. They changed them to fit the raid system and added 3 generic skeleton lords what's the purpose of that. They added those without any story which is a lot more confusing than adding the gold hoarder to skeleton forts who loves to protect gold ik he is stuck on a staff in the current cannon, but I think you have to deviate from the story sometimes if it means making an event better. The only fort that people like doing now is the fort of the damned which is one fort for like out of 7 that is not what you want to have in your live service game. Having the majority of players just focus on a handful of events because the others have gotten stale is not great.

They did the same thing with the performance of the game for a while. They pushed out updates while kind of letting performance fall and then when it got so bad they had to address it they did but it took years of letting performance fall to the side to do that. They have an entire team on game health now which is great so maybe they need to have a smaller group of people that's dedicated to looking at how to improve previous features in the game. It's clear with how their setup now they can't justify going back and fixing other events and such. Let's take the burning blade for example. Season 16 is going to be reaper themed according to their podcast and I guarantee you that the burning blade doesn't get any updates. They won't take it out of the world event cage its in to let us do more with it so instead that event will continue to remain dull while they add other stuff to the game. This is the core issue with Sea Of Thieves. Features in the game don't evolve as the game evolves.

  • @jpskywalker9332 This makes no sense whatsoever with the SOT narrative, and this won't attract anyone to do the forts, it will be exactly the same thing, since all the bosses act completely the same within their categories.

Assuming Rare did this, besides ruining the special aspect of these NPCs and throwing away the story, this would stop being cool in 1 or 2 weeks.

  • In the latest podcast the devs talked about Season 16 expanding out Flamehearts forces. Perfect time for Jim to be an Ashen Boss imo.

  • @lleorb

They have thrown out most of that shores of gold narrative a long time ago, and what they haven't they won't specify it's all flameheart/athena now. They could have the bosses be more buffed up and include rarer tier loot and maybe new loot for the gold hoarder's faction since their doing the whole faction revamp thing this year it seems. I don't think it ruins the bosses being special what ruins them being special is no one seeing them and doing the tall tales. People don't play tall tales theirs a lot of content in there that could be reworked to come out of those confines. The black pearl/ flying dutchman come to mind. Seeing as how we don't actually have a new ship to choose those would be perfect choices to rework and make events out of or just allow us to choose them from the menu. At the very least allow us to choose different ship models. Theirs just a lot of content there that was worked on for an insane amount of time that doesn't serve an actual purpose in the game. It's another example of content left to rot. Just take the devils roar, skeleton fleets, armada, athena loot, legend of the veil, etc. Content that's added and later left to rot and eventually no one cares to do them. There's a lot of things they can reskin to give new life and or change up loot to makes thing feel fresh. They know this and do this, but the issue is implementation. Fortified sea forts is a great example. Thats a great event and refresh that sea forts needed yet was just made for a week. They can introduce these things as events, but they should be added later on. I just don't get the mindset over at Rare sometimes. It's like they don't care about player retention at all. The segmented seasons, the new voyages as events but should just be perm in the game, and the seasonal content that is there doesn't hold interest long enough. At least I am offering ways for them to freshen things up. Stuff shouldn't need a dedicated season to be updated. They need a quality of life season each year where they take a look at all the content of the game and then ask themselves okay what we can improve upon or give a new twist and do that. That would have been much better than season 14 which was a massive misstep after season 13. We just got this massive new ship and the return of flameheart and right after they thought it was the perfect time to have the most underwhelming season besides maybe season 5.
