I mean if it was a server test why was more stuff taken out if it was a test they by all that is holy they did a horrible job we found out that the servers we not doing a good job at peek time they had to activate servers because they were full (wasn't the alpha to test stability) if they were really testing why did the scale back all we know is that the servers can run a bare bones version we should not be thinking just because it's a beta that it is fine my friend pre ordered but if there is not any meat what do we do then it's like pubg the idea is nice but that's it a cool idea and a boring game.(I want the game to do well but it needs content playing with mates on any game can be fun but that's because they contribute to the fun)
The Beta is a Major disappointment to say the Least
@delta-sparky901 please for the love of all that is shiny use punctuation to seperate your sentences! That aside...
The alpha was to test game mechanics and stability of features. The beta was to further test mechanics along with server stability. The DEVs even said they were absolutely shocked at the amount of players the Beta received. The lack of content was done purposefully, as they didn't want players (like myself) speeding through all the game had to offer before the full release.
@ethnine They didn't lift the NDA, the NDA isn't lifted until Feb 13th.
The beta didn't really have an NDA, which is part of the reason the features are stripped, the full known features will be available on Feb 13th.@delta-sparky901 said in The Beta is a Major disappointment to say the Least:

That's the thing, we don't actually know what they were testing specifically or why. There are myriad reasons they could have given us the build they did. Maybe they only had that build ready for beta, maybe they wanted to test specific features, maybe they got too much feedback about one feature and not enough about some other feature so they took one out. There are a million different things they could be testing for different reasons. You can't know if they did a horrible job, because you don't know what data they collected, or even what data they were trying to collect. Stop judging betas as though they were games. Betas are for the developer, not for the player.
I enjoyed the Beta ... I sailed. I conquered. I got in sword fights. I sank. I scuttled. I got treasure. I bought stuff so I look cool. I also played for free and understood that beta testing is not always a fully baked cake. That’s what I signed up for and I’m pleased with the results.
I can’t speak to others expectations but I went in expecting a beta and knowing it’s not fully featured. I feel like that’s what I got. No complaints from me on being allowed to have fun testing.
@delta-sparky901 alot of the stuff in the beta was new and being tested, explosive barrels, new skeleton ai, the sniper gun, the spyglass. specifically in this beta, as well as the servers, the stuff that has already been tested in pieces in different alpha builds, was removed.
If you read the articles on how they are developing this game you'd understand why they are doing it like this, and why it is possible to test parts of the game in modular fashion. Too many people arguing points based on their own ignorance.
@spunkus-skunkus The only mistake you made is that you let yourself build a hype.
The devs gave us nothing. So we should say to people "there is nothing". I Bought the game and I am happy about it, I will wait to see but trust me I did the same with No Man's Sky and got hurt deep already once. Have no expectations. This might be an other expectation w*****g...After all, everything we know about the game is that there might be a vast selection of customization items for our character. Same with bigger might goes for ships. The size of customization freedom we don't know but moving forth with what we were given we can assume that it will be catalog of unlock visual variations on items, clothes and ship parts. Most unlocked with gold and/or with faction standing. Something farm-able after release thanks to the web guides that might be created...
So what do you want to see more? Yes the beta could have gone way better. The streams could be way better! The people could be way happier, but meh... Rare thought showing an empty game through some famous streamers channel will be enough... And tell you what... It might was bro!
20 March, lets see what happens.@kruqnut said in The Beta is a Major disappointment to say the Least:

Where is that coming from? The Press Embargo gets lifted on the 13th, not the NDA. And yes, the NDA was lifted for the closed beta.
The beta didn't really have an NDA, which is part of the reason the features are stripped, the full known features will be available on Feb 13th.
Well, just because the press embargo will be lifted doesn't mean we will know everything. We will know more though, that is for sure. The Closed Beta did not have an NDA, that is correct. I am confused???
@ethnine well its a press embargo on a full current version they paid, so they pioneers will still be hushed, but i imagine they may lift nda at the same time since itll be sort of pointless after that date.
