Through playing the scale test with a couple of friends I've noticed players not having much regard for their ship especially if they don't have loot on it and I think the problem with that is because of the mermaid system, those players know that even if their ship sinks they will still be able to spawn back to almost exactly where the ship sank and the biggest problem my friends and I have noticed with this mechanic is the fact that after you sink their ship they can still stay there right next to you and keep pestering you while you may be trying to sell your chests at an outpost or you sunk their ship and are now trying to go for their loot, they will still spawn there to protect it with their mermaid and or just quickly grab the chest and click on the mermaid so it disappears and no one can get it. So my friends and I have came up with a solution that we think will fix a lot of problems with PvP. If you sink a crew's ship they have no more respawns meaning that you are on your last life once your ship sinks and that when your whole crew dies you will then be able to respawn back, and once you and your crew do the game should make you respawn far away at another outpost discouraging the outpost campers if you had destroyed their ship first. Making it so you just have to get rid of the ship and then go after the crew like we think it should be. This will also make your ship more important to have it not sink and to make it so people just can't spawn kill you or nag you with their mermaid. Now not to say the whole mermaid system is bad, I think it is a good idea to have a mermaid spawn when you get separated from you ship or one of your crew members has to run away with the ship in a hurry so that you may not be stranded situations like that but having it be a spawn point is absurd, only your ship should be where you should spawn.
That's all I have to say. It is a great game and still can't wait for it, thank you to anyone that has taken the time to read this! Lets make a difference! #Bemorepirate
