Man o War, bigger ship

  • https://www.seaofthieves.com/forum/topic/29992/a-ship-even-bigger-than-the-galleon This link shows a detailed idea for a man o war ship made by someone other than myself. I think that a man o war ship in the game would be a cool idea. Some people may say that this would be unfair because the ship would be op and be able to take out sloops very easily. I think that this could be solved by having a speperet world that would only be for galleons and/or a ship slightly bigger than the galleon( a possible 5-6 man crew ship) and the man o war. I think that this would fix the possible unfair advantages of a man o war. I also think that a larger player count (anywhere from 24 to 36) would help to balnce out the unfairness. If you agree please write in the comments. Thanks.

  • If folks want to see what a Man-O-War would look like in game they should go to Shipwreck Bay. The large crashed ship there with the captains picture in the cabin is a Man-O-War If I am correct. It's far bigger than a Galleon.

  • If a ship like that was added the only possible solution would be to nerf it's speed to be slower than a sloop. Or to nerf it's turn radius.

  • Or have the man o'war an npc patrolling ship that once plundered or boarded you receive cosmetic/chests or a title. Make it a daily even that players can team up together to take on the big guns!

  • @jimbodeani You should check out the threads by @ShootHere4EXP for the 5 ship meta he came up with, this includes the Man O' War.

If you'd like to see a 3D rendering of the Man O' War from the design thread above, look at this thread that is specifically for the Man O' War.

  • Horrible idea, is splits the community.

And I have some fundamental issues with the man o war in term of balancing and that's it sprobabaly very hard to implement cannons on lower decks because they would need a huge hole in the side or almost not have any movement capability.

  • @exist0 How would a bigger ship split the community? They dont need separate servers they can just turn even slower than the galleon

  • @explosiveboby
The OP suggested separate servers for them

  • alt text

  • @katchep agreed

  • There was an interview with the devs where they said they had entertained the idea of ships as large as 15 or 20 man ships, and they definitely plan on having bigger ships if the demand is there for it, post launch. I'm sure there will be polls or discussions about it later on

  • @jimbodeani I think the man o war would be that legendary ship its a big chance

  • @paul-endri I think it would be the legendary ship?

  • @jimbodeani instead of 5-6 men, i think it should be 7-8.

with the sides curved it would have six cannons on each side, being two separate groups of three, one group being on the front part of the side of the ship, while the other group would be at the back part of the side of the ship, making it so that it could shoot in a wider angle.

or maybe instead of six cannons on each side, there could be nine, with three separate groups of three cannons, including those in the front and back parts of the sides of the ship, there could also be one group in the middle, shooting in a 90 degree angle from the ship

i'd like to make some concept art of this

  • @paul-endri Is there a video for this or a place where I could get more info on it?
I think that crews that big would be even cooler and make for fun and crazy gameplay that’s also memorable.

in case you didn't know, the galleon is faster than the sloop (i tested this)

"they can just turn even slower than the galleon". They weren't talking about speed, they were talking about the turning radius at speed. A Sloop has a tighter turning radius at speed.
