I've just downloaded the Final Beta and get this message when I try to play.
"Sea of Thieves is temporarily unavailable. Please try again later. (Kiwibeard)"
Any ideas? My friend is in and playing just fine....

Ahoy there!
Due to a high volume of players taking to the sea, the servers are temporarily full. No new players will be able to get aboard for a while. Players already sailing may have issues receiving gold from voyages.
You can keep an eye on the Status Page and Twitter for the most up to date information!
Considering I lost about an hour playtime earlier and lost two chests to a group of looters and got disconnected from the server so hard my PC restarted. I could not get back in game to pursue them. In fact I spent a lot of time staring at 'searching the seas...'. I then spend about 40mins trying to solo a raid and the game kicks me out, so that 'others can play'.
I must say, for the beta experience, I've spent most of my time losing in-game loot and losing real life time of constantly trying to get online. Today's play was very disappointing.
Considering at GMT, you can't be expected to stay up 'til 10am to enjoy the game. The beta's have been nothing but a connection nightmare and bad experiences until you're kicked out and not let back in.
If this is the last beta and it's anything to go by, it certainly screams 'get online.. if you can and probably lose everything anyway'.
Not pleased.
A little bit of advice to people on these comments. Just before the OPEN BETA released, Sea of thieves did a video on youtube explaining what the final BETA is all about there. You expect the servers to hold up when it's an OPEN BETA. They have never had these much players on before, that's what a beta is for as well as scale tests. OPEN BETA is to test the servers and other broken things. It's not a chance to play the full game before launch, that's not what a beta is.
@thegrizzcometh yup I figured it’s cause a bunch of people were like “ahhhhhh servers down let’s find out why!” All came here to find out because it’s just full... kiwibeard needs to learn more words I think, would help with the panic that comes after getting off the. Coming back to find the servers are temp unavailable...
From an operational standpoint, to ensure a successful and smooth launch, they should overkill it with servers and then scale back as they see numbers dwindle to the active player base.
It's issues like these at launch that really hurt a games image, and with how great this game is, I would be very sad to see that happen.
I see it a bit sad, that people who pre-orded the game to actually support the developers are not getting a chance to play, while people who think "oh come on test it for free" are on the servers playing and enjoying themselves for maybe 12 hours without break. They should let people who actually bought it give a chance as well using it.
I could play a good hour hours ago, had to go later and now I wanted to continue and cannot get in since almost an hour. I could connected once just to actually join in a strangers party.
Hope they fix it soon, otherwise I see not a big hope in that game for the release.
It's a little ridiculous that this is happening right now, on the last day, of the last beta.... That doesn't instill much hope and makes me consider canceling my 90$ preorder until then can actually look at the real numbers of players and account for that. This happens every time a game launches with a high following for online play "we didnt expect so many people" well, Plan for more and have wiggle room because this is disheartening for the fans of the game.
@ve111a Well actually they could have totally plan the mass of people since they hyped this game until heaven. They just didn't prepare for it, even with the knowledge that people want this game so bad!
Plan for scale video... this is expected and the team are in the studio playing with the dials and monitoring as we speak.
@jjblackhat I am not sure I would state it is worse than scale. The game is open to all players and added a large amount of features for it. The stress tests were supposed to help with this, but there is so much hype generated people want to play, paying or not.

It's been fare worse for me than any scale test. My character clicks on any vanity or clothing chest and it crashes to the Xbox home page. On a game built on 'visual progression' that is a game breaking problem. I have to also state my concern with having the server capacity available on launch since they are already shutting down entry to players right now (proof via twitter).
