My only complaint is about the steadiness of the telescope: it is way to hard to keep it steady when your boat is constantly rocking. It should be the same as the sniper rifle scope which somewhat steadies itself because otherwise it makes the rifle useless. It would hurt nothing to make the telescope steadier to make it easier to use.
Telescope too hard to control

@feeder87 Telescope? Are you sailing on a submarine? 😜
Submarines use a periscope m8 :)
I agree the telescope does seem a little hard to control, but that adds to the realism imho.I'm gonna be that guy... But, I think you're forgetting you're usually on choppy waters, or the sea in general, like 80% of the time. It adds to realism. I'd be concerned if it was pin-point accurate. It wouldn't feel right at all. As someone who was stationed in the crows-nest a lot, I can assure you it's easy to get used to.
@suicidal-will I think it actually breaks the immersion for me. If your character doesn’t have any trouble looking forward as the boat is tilting then it should be the same when looking through the spyglass. Your brain automatically adjusts for things like this and it feels very unnatural having to keep constantly adjusting your view up and down. I don’t mind if that mechanic remains in the game but in that case it definetly needs to be reduced or the sensitivity be increased
@weepaperboats it’s hard to get used to on pc, I have to move my mouse several mousepads worth of distance to keep it stead in either direction
@feeder87 I'm not so sure about this:

Have you ever been on a boat trying to hold a spyglass in real life? It's not the same as looking straight forward without it. Your body automatically adjusts to the rocky nature of the ship pretty quickly, but to hold something in place is a lot harder

Then you need to tweak your mouse sensitivity. I use a semi-large Corsair mousepad... and I don't even use a quarter of it when I'm scoping for ships/islands in the crows-nest. If you need "several mousepads", that's the first I've heard of that one. This would require everyone who's uses the scope to buy more mousepads then... lol.
@weepaperboats I don’t have a large mousepad, I have to keep constantly picking up my mouse, upping the mouse sensitivity makes it too hard to use for anything else

Take some time and practice tweaking your mouse sensitivity on Tuesday. That's literally all you can do. Also, adjusting your FOV to 90-100 should assist a bit.
@seasicksig I have been on a boat with a spyglass. If we’re talking about making it more realistic then the in-game spyglass needs to have dramatically increased sensitivity

More like a planet...arium.
It's not "realistic" the way that ADS works right now, so quit claiming it is. And besides that it's a moot point. Good gameplay mechanics should always trump realism. Right now aiming down sights is just absolutely terrible. I don't even bother with the spy glass most of the time because if I don't aim perfectly I'm staring at the bloody sky and it takes too long to get to what you meant to look at so I always have to completely unzoom and then try again. It's so terribly done it actually destroys any immersion and reminds me I'm playing a video game with a really not well done feature.

I couldn’t have said it better myself. The way it is now I find myself using the sniper rifle instead of the spyglass just to avoid all the unnecessary motion.

@feeder87 Never had a problem with the telescope. It has to rock around, your on a ship at sea. If it randomly stayed steady it wouldn't make sense.
Then how would you justify how steady the sniper scope is? It’s a very simple quality of life improvement to steady the spyglass, it doesn’t do anyone any good to have an unmanageable spyglass
@madscallion said in Telescope too hard to control:
yes it's not easy to use, but does everything needs to be easy ?
I like it just the way it is, if course it annoys me but still I would not want it to be changed in any way
It wouldn’t be a very hard change to implement and would do nothing except make the game more fun. Everything else in the game is relatively easy to use, so why not the spyglass?
Yeah I have to agree with all threads like this...
Let me add some suggestions here so they're all in one place.- Can we stop the boat from rocking to fix it?
- Can we make the sails see through so you don't have to pull them up a bit or use your crew to look ahead when sailing the galleon?
- Can we have magazines for the guns instead of only single shots and then have to reload
- Can we put an X on the ground so we know where to dig
- Can we show enemy ships on the maps so we know where they are
- Can make canons fire on their own at the right angle when enemy ships are on our left or right side
- Can give the crow's nest an elevator so we don't have to climb the ladder
- Can we separate Xbox players and PC players in forums so we know if the complaining is based on platform
@endosku11 I get what you’re saying, but it seems like you’re intentionally being dumb. Your “suggestions” are hard to implement, others are completely negating what makes this game fun, and some are downright game breaking.
