Ship Customization

  • Not sure if this has already been answered but im curious as to how ship customisation will work across different play sessions...
For example if i purchase a new paint job for my ship, when it is sunk will i lose it? when i join a game will i lose it? does it unlock permanently? and in a crew who customises the ship?

    cheers,

  • @ten-wxlves i believe you will always have it, i am also not sure on how it works completely. I think it may be up to the captain as far as what designs, but i could be wrong.

Someone may comment on this and ask you to search for it. Because it has been probably covered and they dont want an excess amount of threads. But hey i gave you my 2 cents!

  • @ten-wxlves Ahoy there!

While you are not a legendary pirate your customisations will have to be applied at the start of every session and will be a majority vote when playing as a crew. Once you reach legendary status this will all be fixed in place and the ship will be yours to keep!

Your customization purchases are always saved, you just have to apply them as and when required.

  • When you purchase an item for your ship it is yours forever, it won't get deleted if your ships sinks or you log off/change sessions. The only way that your cosmetic would not be applied is if you joined a crew and were not the host, the hosts ship is the one that has the cosmetics. However when you buy something for your ship when you aren't host you can transfer to a new session where you are the host and it will be available. Hope this helps!

This is actually incorrect. Every pirate in a session gets to change the look of the ship. Only when you reach pirate legend captaincy will it be up to the captain of that ship. Before anyone reaches pirate legend captain the whole crew can add what they like. An example is I bring a cool figurehead, you bring sails, soome other guy brings a cool paint job etc. Hope that helps clarify it.

  • @starquest That seems more correct, my apologies!

  • @blg-strong-dad no worries, you started off on the right foot but I just wanted to help clarify for you and the op.

Nice C&P 😇 but thanks for reiterating for us.

  • I'm a little unclear about how to be a host. Is it simply the first person to load into the lobby and send invites out? What happens if I'm just playing with randoms?

  • @tobyonekenobe Ahoy there!

While you may be the host, that does not make you the captain or have any privileges over any of your crewmates.

Everything in a crew will be done on a majority vote until legendary ships and captaincy comes in.

  • @musicmee

I'm not interested in being a captain or giving orders. I was more interested in how to ensure that I always play with MY [legendary] ship rather than the bog standard plain ship.

I had a really good crew during the beta and we have plans to play together when the full game is released, but it's likely that we'll also be playing apart from each other (due to occasional different work hours) so we'll level up at different rates. If one of us reaches legendary status before the rest and gets his own ship, it would be nice to be able to use his ship each game. I don't know if I'm explaining myself properly, but I basically want to know how it is determined who the 'host' (not the captain) is each time you start a game.

  • @musicmee I'm assuming if you are on a solo sloop you can do it your way then lol.

Also im going to take a guess that all items bought work in both ships? Has there been a confirmation that there is sperate items for the sloop or galleon or do they just cross over?

  • @tobyonekenobe Ahhh in that case... we don't know for sure yet, I bet in the update the menu gets jigged about to let this happen.

  • @knifelife Correct, on both terms... solo is just a case of talking to the shipwright and applying. And the items/designs work across the ship and sloop! All very clever!

  • @musicmee Ahhhh sweet, so then for anyone wanting to decide there own customisation. Just sail solo. Your the boss then :P

  • Get me some Crayons for me ship, Me and the crew could have some fun stylin' her up.

  • HARRRRR
Does this mean I can buy a sail and my buddy a galleon and we can put both skins on the same ship?
