I'm really enjoying the game, however the one thing that is really bothersome is that every time it turns to nighttime (or I enter a really dark area) I have to go into my xbox settings to turn HDR off in order to be able to see anything (Even with lantern).
We really need a brightness slider in game! HDR adds so much to the games look, that its a shame that I need to have it off to be able to see anything 50% of the time in game!
There's been a huge change in the colors/brightness since the beta/scale tests. I'll paste what I just posted on another thread about this....
I came here to say the same thing. The game on my Xbox One X and 4K HDR TV is way too dark. During the night time it is nearly impossible to navigate. Huge change from the beta and stress tests.
The sky and water are NEVER blue anymore. The sky is a yellowish/greenish color while the water is a dark murky brownish color. During the day time it looks like I'm sailing through a smog filled region. I can look up directly at the sun with no clouds covering it and it's still terribly dark.
I also have another Xbox One X on a 4K non-HDR TV. The game looks fantastic and perfect on that setup. So I'm guessing this is an HDR issue.

So this could be an issue with your TV/monitor. Its possible your TV/monitor HDR mapping curve isn't matching the curve that the game is using. If your TV has some form of dynamic contrast I would use it. Also make sure you calibrate your set in the HDR settings. Some TV/monitors have a completely different adjustment when an HDR source is detected. HDR is so new that the standards are all over the place. Good luck.
