Snakes are a bit excessive

  • Probably my least favourite addition from beta to release was the snakes. There's so many of them, they take a concerning number of hits to be killed and they're dang annoying when they bite you. I'm not against having them in the game but I'd rather there were more dangerous but less prevalent, and perhaps easier to kill to make up for getting spat at and being unable to see for 10 seconds or so.

    1. Why don't they move?
    2. Why do they spit venom?
    3. Why do they take so many hits?

    Snakes = Dumb.

  • yeah i know its a game but snakes should be a one hit kill. That said i didnt know you could even kill them lol I learn something new every day (its 4:30am here so this is a quick day as well lol).

  • @captainsloopdog They don't move because they are cobras, spitting ones at that. Those do not bite primarily and spit in your eyes to blind you.

    Answered above.

Because Rare wants you to avoid them, rather than to fight them, but it is silly how many of them there are.

Actually they do move, but when you get close to them they sit upright and hiss, waiting to spit at you. You'll notice them crawling around, or sometimes rotating just to get you when you think you're safe.

What would be a cool addition would be the ability to harvest venom from them which you could then lace your sword with. Sword play is grossly underwhelming in PvP and being able to do stuff like this would seriously help. Also collecting resources from defeating enemies just makes it a heck of a lot more satisfying and at least possibly worth the time and effort to do.

  • @thirddegreepun - I can dig that.

    Don't ... don't you ... don't you dare justify the snakes! HAHA.

  • @captainsloopdog Well, I mean if you want me to go further, it doesn't make too much sense that they are there in the first place. Spitting cobras aren't native to the carribean tmk.

There we go! Insult the snakes. Let the venom flow through you. Embrace the hatred of these hissing monstrosities!

  • They can be charmed by playing music, and all snakes in a certain radius become peaceful for a time and you can avoid them unharmed.

Whoa... mind blown! I’m trying this right now haha

  • @thirddegreepun Play music while walking around the island, it hypnotizes the snakes... It's hilariopus that you didn't do your homework before complaining about this. xD

As long as you're playing music, you are safe from snakes, they stop hissing, they stop spitting... eez gud.

Don't you know by now that people would rather get on here and complain than use creativity? The gamespace of Sea of Thieves is wonderful for this sort of exploration, but so many people don't even think to try.

  • @zythal When i discovered gold skeletons weakness to water, that blew my mind... After that i discovered the other skeletons weaknesses fairly quickly and i've been looking for other stuff like that in the game since.

Rare really went all the way with immersion in this game, i bloody love it! 8D

  • Found a snake. Shot it. Gave up after three Sniper shots. It didn't respond. The AI was bad. The hissing sound proximity needs to be halved, at least. It's irritating.

  • Snakes are just an annoyance, not much more.

    They should:

    1. Hide in the grass a lot more
    2. Not be everywhere constantly.
    3. Be a lot more dangerous damage-wise.
    4. Be a lot easier to kill.

@thirddegreepun a dit dans Snakes are a bit excessive :

I haven't seen ONE move even an INCH.

The sword poisoning idea, though, pretty awesome.

  • @sweltering-nick oh cool didn't know that. I mean to be fair looking up "can you stop snakes" wasn't exactly what I was thinking, all I could see was that there were a lot of them, everywhere. The noises were annoying and there just seemed to be way too many. Again, I'd rather they were a lot more dangerous but less prevalent, so when you heard one you got scared enough to then charm them.

@Zythal no need to be rude. I searched for snake posts before making mine. Regardless of a counter to them I still think there's way too many all over the place, again, I'd rather they were buffed in terms of damage a lot to make them a more significant threat but there were less around to encourage more caution around them. Also it's weird how resistant they are to damage, I'd rather they hid in the bushes and encouraged you to calm them for fear of being jumped at, rather than having them be ridiculously bullet resistant.

  • The non stop hissing and excessive number of them is quite annoying. I don't mind there being deadly animals out in the world but perhaps tone down the volume of the hissing/annoying qualities such as 10 snakes within 10 feet of one another.
