Additions to the pirates code! 3 rings, 3 flashes, 'n no cannons.

Thar be more like guidelines th'n actual rules, true.

But all I'm proposing is that we, fellow seafarers 'n such, consider how might we avoid constant conflict 'pon the sea.

Should every encounter lead yer 'tire crew to chaos and bloodshed? Nay, say I. Sometimes we j'st don't want to waist 'n/or risk the planks, bananas, and booty.

How's about a simple 'ttempt to resolve things peacefully, no cannons needed.

What I'll be proposing is an unspoken agreement NOT to fire 'pon 'nother ship if they be ringin' thur bell 3 times and flashin' thur lights 3 times.

If a ship be alternatin' from 3 rings of thur bell to 3 flashes of thur lantern, then they be proposing a peaceful encounter... or no encounter at all. 'N if the other crew return with a 3 rings o' the bell 'n 3 flashes of thur lantern, then the the truce be expected.

For 'tever reason it may be, crews may want to avoid conflict... whether they have an empty vessel and don't feel like a waistin' thur supplies on a useless conflict, or if they be a bringing a ship full o' booty back to the outpost. If they be signaling for a truce, yall should consider a peaceful encounter. Thus none a crews be waiting materials or losin' thur booty... or... blast'm t'bits... But just consider the alternative m'friends... consider the alternative.

  • I like it.

Although I think Rare needs to implement FLAG and PARLAY systems.

Flags let us know what mission you might be on. To engage someone in PvP you must raise the black flag.

Parlay would allow us to set up binding treaties. Much like pirates of old. A parlay could be a cooperation pact or peace pact between crews .... or more sinister "we won't sink you if you give us part of your treasure".

  • @luke-kb - Doesn't it have to rhyme though?

"3 flashes of latern, 3 rings of bell - and between two pirates no cannonballs fell."

Damn... well that's a missed opportunity if I've ever seen one.

  • Normally when I encounter a ship I flash my lantern to say I’m friendly... After it’s up to them to understand or not.

Three flashes , three rings and everyone keeps their things

  • I never have the option, I'm normally fired on or chased the moment they see me. I don't bother doing quests anymore, too hard to get the reward if you have to fend off another ship (the same one) every time you you want to dock. Today I gave up and just wanted to explore solo and see what the sea had to offer but was chased from the start and ended up having to go Rambo on them giving up my ship and keging them and killing them as they tried to fix it. Guess what happened after that? The spawned a few island's down and away we went again.
You can flash and ring all you want but until the newbie horde rolls on by and game pass ends and you have a core group who wants to do something other than mindlessly fight and chase for hours I thing this idea might be a little hopeless.
    Just my opinion

This... right here... is the loadingscreen-rhyme we don't deserve, but the loadingscreen-rhyme we need.
