4 galleons 2 sloops, defeated them all... but.... PLEASE FIX THIS

No, not a perfect design, but in my opinion the problem here is...fresh supplies...the game needs to punish to lose or scuttle a ship. Start with no resources, take them in the world. This would help with strongholds and other situations in the game.

A good work around would be having a three strike system.
The first time they spawn, they're farther away and have 10 instead of 15 in resources. The second time, they spawn even FARTHER away and have 5 instead of 10.
The third time = server switch.

This way, they would have to stop and search for new supplies before they could come bcak and give the people attacking the fort a reprieve/time to actually work the fort.

  • @twiejk Hmm, I've been thinking about this respawn issue. What if with each subsequent sinking the time to respawn a ship increases or each of passengers respawns in quick one man rowboats and they have to get back to port to get another ship. The row boats would be fast enough to get away from the other boats so that would cut down on trolls killing you over and over...it would also cut down on general harassment once they lose because they would have to go somewhere else to get back into the fight.

That's basically how GTAV handles it. Once you blow up a vehicle, they have to go somewhere to get another one.

  • @lord-of-goats I like this idea a lot. At the very least 0 cannon balls if you are sunk. I also think if an enemy boards your ship to prevent the enemy from reloading bullets and spawn camping EITHER you are able to lock the ammo box or only the team can access the ammo box. There's a whole slew of mini games you could add if you added locks to the game. (some like the fortress gate being unpickable but others like chests maybe you'd have to pick?) Sorry getting on a tangent here.

  • I agree even more so now. I myself just 'abused' the mechanics.

To cut a long story short, galleon at a fort, me and my friend in a sloop, went in and we died. Fair enough was going to do something else until one of the galleon crew started smack talking on the ferry of damned. Game on. Basically it came down to them having, I assumed, running out of planks as we watched them from a skeleton guard tower, we saw two was constantly bailing out with the other two fighting the waves of skellies. With this I left my crew mate in the tower as I got yet another ship. On the way back they finished the fort, my mate cannoned himself into the throne room and blew a powder keg with them in there to delay them, then respawned to me on the ship. We put more holes in them in the hopes of sinking them. Then, hilariously, as they start to sail off the kraken grabs them much to our amusement.

You can view it below for your (dis)pleasure. (only my crew mates comms are recorded because I'm bad)

We only managed to salvage the fort chest, tea and silk from the wreckage (seems the fort skull vanished) and then some stuff they left in the fort in the panic (Spices and trinkets). This is where the content is.
