What makes "Everyone is Equal, buy our Skins" a successful model

  • Selection.
    Variety.
    Difference.
    Variance.
    Apparent uniqueness.
    Not being the same.
    Having choices.
    Options.

I think you get the gist.
We have two ships. One cannon. One cannonball. Four 'personal' weapons, three of which use the same ammo.
There's four 'sets' of skins, plus the 'legendary' set. (should really rename that from legendary to finally completed tutorial and now a pirate that is beginning to make their name).
What makes LOL successful ? Like, million dollar championships annually - successful? As a free to play game where you ONLY buy skins?

Read above. There's how many characters that are all 'equal'? - A bit more than two.

Are you confused? It's not that hard to follow. Skins are valid business model in games that have vast customization options. There is not that in SoT.
I want the game to succeed, but it's not going to if things don't speed up.
One nobody streamer with a measly 1k views can cost a full year wage for an entry level dev. This is about money, they aren't making their expectation off the xbox pass.

    Shame you are confused.
He is saying that variety makes games successful. Among other things.

  • @willy-pordobel

He's saying that SoT needs more cosmetic options.

Kinda what we've all been saying, but hey, still technically true.

  • OP was all over the place. Hence confusion. @Willy-Pordobel wasn't the only one struggling to follow

  • Soooo, the issue is lack of uniqueness ?
So far most of the players I have come across have a mix match of items from the in game venders.
Some look cool, others, not so cool.
    But each was unique.
The game has been out for 13 days as of this post.
13.. not even 2 bloody weeks.
    Give Rare a chance.

  • All indications thus far is that SoT has been extremely successful.

  • LOL also has progression in each new match. Racing to out-level your opponent and dominating them (or at least the chance to), as well as account progression with Runes, Glyphs, Etc. is what has people coming back to that game over and over. A game based solely on cosmetics won't last (SORRY).

  • @tavishhill2003

    Hahahahahahahahahaha dying

  • Bare bones is what this game is

    Joke

  • @rutta Says the person on the forums.. Clearly into the game..

  • To be honest I can't understand why we got so rickety selection on release, hopefully they are hoarding content for future patches because this is ridiculous.

Ships customization is specially poor and lackluster. And reskins is one of the most easy things to do for a creator of content.

Basically my point. The thing that keeps LOL and similar in (very good) business with ONLY SKIN purchases is the content the skins are for. Add more ships, more guns, more ammo, more customization. Not just more skins for the lacking content.
