Xbox One Elite Controller

  • Thoughts on implementing support for the Elite Controller? Being able to use the 4 extra paddles on the back of the controller would be helpful for quick access to bananas/cannon balls/planks/etc.

And when I mean implement the use of the 4 paddles, I mean have them as there own button-mapping. (P1, P2, P3, P4).

Those who have the controller will understand what I mean, LOL.

Thoughts on this? I think it’d be extremely helpful!

  • Has this been fixed? I’d also like to use the extra paddles to assign some of the wheel functions to.

  • While it doesn't seem impossible to do on Windows, I can't imagine it being implemented on the Xbox platform.

The controller's button functionality is handled via the Accessories app which is a system level program which has to play nice with all games and apps.

The only solution I can think of would be essentially allowing you to program multi button press macros, and that clearly opens up all sorts of other problems that create cheating opportunities in games like old school third party "turbo" controllers would.

  • You can still map the jump button to a paddle so you too can bunny hop aim and shoot.

  • I think this is more of a controller firmware issue than it is a SoT software issue. The controller itself doesn't let you map "Upper Right Paddle" as "Upper Right Paddle", just as a clone of a standard input.

  • I have an elite controller and to my knowledge you can't use the paddles as new buttons you can only mirror LS RS (clicks) A B Y X, and even if you could create new buttons, that would require a macro it would need to depress and hold a bumper and then move the stick in a specific direction.

Really cool idea, don't believe it's possible with the Elite Controller.

  • It's pretty much been said already but the elite controller paddles cannot be used as new buttons for any game. You can just map existing buttons to them for ease of access.

  • @xellipses I think I remember from a while ago that the developers wanted paddle mapping to be available in game but there was something that was hindering it. I am guessing they have not been able to work through the problem just yet.

  • Having some of the D-Pad buttons not used by SoT, you can set your shortcut to Bananas, planks and cannonballs or whatever on them. Then through the Accessories app you can set paddles to the D-Pad buttons you set before.
It's what I did. Not the best option, but at least, it's working and it's faster than using the basic Wheel offered by the game. :)
