Hotkey options for Xbox Elite Controllers?

  • As an owner of the Elite controller, I think it'd be awesome if we were able to utilize the paddles more in conjunction with the buttons as hotkeys and/or vice versa. Such as assigning a key to strictly eat a banana rather than having to go through the wheel process to select it. Or a plank, cannonball, etc. Or even set one button for weapon one and the other for weapon two rather than having to cycle through the two with just one button. But being able to shoot with the paddles, and use RT to consume a specific item would be pretty sweet.

Would that unbalance things or be unfair in any way? Looking for thoughts from the community as well on this.

  • I think you can already do this. In the games settings you can assign a button to a specific item (like bananas, shovel, etc.).

I have an elite controller but really don’t like the paddles, so I haven’t tried this yet.

  • @taboo8614 I don't have an elite but I have 🍌 set to right stick pushed in.

Do the extra paddles allow you to assign hotkeys for this game? That's how I read this title.

Curious because I was debating getting one.

  • The feature exists already to hot key your tools to a button. Unfortunately, the only free keys to do this are the 4 buttons on the D-Pad. If you’re not worried about using the Emotes / In game chat wheel, then you could map up to 4 tools / items to the D-Pad, and then map the D-Pad to your paddles.

I’m currently using L-Stick (sprint), A (jump), LB (tool wheel), and Y (switch weapons/reload cannons) on my paddles.

I’m also using the D-Pad with my Compass, Lantern, and Bananas hotkeyed. I have the Emotes wheel active, but not the chat wheel.

  • @daddy-sanctus regular controller.

Think left d pad is planks
    Right d pad is bucket
    Right stick in is banana.

My wife and son seem to be in a permanent sleep/nap coma so I don't use mic much. Need that chat wheel and emotes to sit (hides you)

Just like to say how well done the speech wheel is, I've been told I communicate better and faster than most mic users.

Edit to add: but I would love to bind a few others! Like compass and lantern.
