Naming & shaming is against forum rules & will get you into trouble.
The afk player would be a pc player with a macro set up to jump at a set interval!
I discovered a new way for pirates to cheat/boost/whatever it's called.
Ahoy mate, if there are any instances like this, we recommend raising a Support ticket with Rare including as much detail and information as you can so that Rare are able to pinpoint the incident from their data.
Naming and Shaming is also against Forum rules and I've edited your post to reflect this.
Posting gamertags or screenshots of conversations in order to name and shame community members is not allowed on the Forums.
Cheats and Hacks
Discussing Cheats and Hacks including but not limited to their use and where to get them will result in a permanent ban from the Forums. If you want to report a cheat, hack or bug you have discovered, please contact Support.https://www.seaofthieves.com/forum/topic/45966/sea-of-thieves-official-forum-rules
If you come across any suspicious or suspect behaviour in game, we want Rare to fix it, right? The best way to do that is to go direct to them via Support.
Posting on the forums might make other users aware but Naming and Shaming is against the Forum Rules - unless it's something that has been verified by Rare, we don't know for certain exactly what has caused this behaviour.

Savvy?
@katttruewalker Are you telling me that I will be banned from the forum for trying to alert Rare of a cheating tactic? I'm the bad guy in this situation?

Cheats and Hacks
Discussing Cheats and Hacks including but not limited to their use and where to get them will result in a permanent ban from the Forums. If you want to report a cheat, hack or bug you have discovered, please contact Support.RLY? This is like on the H****r Times.... not allowed to talk about it!
"Played with a pirate named 'souperdewper' last night. Said he had his invincibility up, then DDoS'd another galleon when we were at a skelly fort. Rare please ban."
See how easy it is to fake something? You did nothing wrong, but here I am saying you did. Witchhunts are bad. P**s off the wrong person and you can get a LOT of hatemail coming to you.
If you see someone cheating, send a support ticket to rare, and report them on xbox. If you have proof, attach it with the support ticket
@name333 oh gosh..., you can tell what you want but you have to proof it! why it should be forbidden to tell something about scam/cheating and all of These? We are in 2018 and not within H****r Time ;) Rare is the failure not this poor Guy! They made no Solution for a good Report System. Is is complicated. So it is the fail of Rare and not of this Player! Microsoft is also shutting down my PC as they want to reboot for an Update (Win 10 dont allows to stop that, they are allowed to reboot it). So..., whats about Personal Rights and Laws? I am currently fighting this (Microsoft is hacking my PC to reboot it without my Agreement). So allow this Player to tell about Hackers/Cheaters with Names!
@jackythecaptain Because videos can be edited and faked. Not to mention we have no idea the circumstances. Let's say these guys were friends, and they agreed that he could go afk for a while, so he set up his controller to jump every once in a while. Then, they get a funny "prank" idea to get the guy banned.
Now, this probably isn't the case. But what if. As for your tinfoil hat, it's kind of outdated. You should buy a new one for 10000 some gold.
@name333 so we cant trust any Report... that is what you are saying! all could be scam... so we cant trust anything!
@souperdewper Top of the page says "Support" click that, then click "My Requests". Click "Raise a request" then select "Toxic Player on the drop down
@souperdewper Me matey....As you are new here you might want to refresh your memory by reading the forum rules Here :)
@souperdewper Nope, not down for me. The page should say "Welcome SouperDewper", then under that "My Requests". The button should be between that and "Request History", or the link Liz left

Jumping once every minute doesn't mean afk. It might not seem all that fun, but they could very well be doing other things on another monitor.
There's a difference trying to prove someone is using a 3rd party program to gain an advantage, over trying to prove someone is not at their keyboard. lol
@admiral-tweedle THIS!
I was randomly brigged in a game with randoms after 2-3 hours of gameplay. (their mate came online, and they wanted him to have my part of the treasure)I was tabbing into the game every now and then to avoid afk, while playing game on second montior and watching a movie on third. This went on for hours until they finally surrendered, cashed in and left!

Their mate must have been another one of those Youtube-kiddies that want to easily reach Pirate Legend without ever doing anything.
I do symphatize with you. When I join a random crew (and I play with randoms a lot, due to my real-life friends not having all that much time to play), I'm brigged more often than not after I greet, either right away without any kind of explanation (a trait of mute crews as well, it seems) or asking me to leave with a reason. If they don't even make an effort to explain, I darn sure will stay online in the brig until they cash in all their stuff or let me out so I can help them, which would be less of a waste of their time, too. People just can't think straight, I guess. I usually put on a movie or some sports on TV and watch that while I wait, pressing a key on the controller, keyboard or mouse every once in a while to stay connected or I play a shanty, dance or whatever (although one could also use the "Homer Simpson bird method" to stay online, I suppose). If someone asks me politely to leave for their friend right when I join instead of brigging me without explanation (and it's easy to do. People can either use in-game voice, the text chat - which hopefully will become available on Xbox One soon -, too, or send a short message via the Xbox Live messenger), I'll leave and reconnect to another server (even though it would be highly annoying to do this multiple times due to the long loading times so I don't know if I'd still do it after 2-3 tries).
That said what happened to you has happened to me as well. I've been playing with a random crew for hours, we did voyages, many of which I paid for, I was unearthing treasure, killing skeleton crews, catching animals, raiding forts and doing most of the work, then when we were nearing the outpost for the cashout they decided to anchor, brig me and want me to leave for some friend of theirs to come in and cash in. I certainly won't leave when I have spent hours contributing just because some lazybeard wants to reap my reward. It's a big problem, but I counter-grief such griefers by simply not logging out and staying active.
I also have to go AFK for a couple of minutes at times during several hours of playing, be it to fetch a drink, food, visit the toilet, answer the door or tend to the baby, and logging out just isn't an option or I could potentially lose several hours of work for rewards. I do tell my crew that I'll go AFK for a couple of minutes and to continue without me when I do so, though, and I haven't seen it ever becoming a problem, as long as I inform the crew, which of course "mute" people can't do.
One that could at least be alleviated if a large part (say half) of the reputation XP and gold reward was paid out to the crew for voyage completion instead of only at cash in so people wouldn't feel the need to stay online or lose all their reward. Maybe even add small XP/reputation rewards to kill a skeleton in a skeleton crew, catch an animal on your Merchant voyage list, unearth the next clue on a treasure map or find a treasure chest.
As a pleasant side effect, this would also alleviate PVP griefing quite a bit and even encourage people to PVP more when they have treasure aboard instead of just running since they won't loose everything.@cave-waverider Yeah, as i just wrote in another post.
They should give some reputation for completing the tasks.
So you get some Order of skull rep when u killed the skeletons, but not all the rep. You would still have to deliver skulls/chests etc to get the maximun reputation for that voyage. (+you still have to deliver to get gold)@jammyd22
Care to explain how an band around the thumb stick would make the player jump at exactly 20 second intervals as per what the OP stated??
As that is what i replied to!!@logansdadtoo Can't read what the OP stated as it has been deleted lol, Most comments I saw were in regards to AFK players. Thanks for taking time to reply, have a good day.
