@miles-traveler
"we have run into a pirate crew whose ship doesn't take damage"
There are no hacks for controlling ingame objects, as far as i know... I'd need to see footage to know more about what's happening, but, im just gonna have to assume your and your crews cannon aim is bad. :S
You need to hit enemy galleons below the water line, and with sloops, you gotta hit them on the front part of the ship.
"the players score headshots very deep into the water"
There is not such thing as Headshots in Sea of Thieves, intentionally left out of the game in order to balance PC and Xbox players... Confirmed with testing, you do no extra damage to enemy players, regardless of where on their body you shoot... So headshots aren't a thing in SoT.
"happen to only pop up for skeleton forts"
Correction, skeleton forts attract the players already on the servers, meaning you are more likely to meet other players near skeleton forts. But there are server hoppers... Though this doesn't mean they are hackers.
"and boats and players seem immune to even 5 gunpowder barrels."
They may be using the lag bug to their advantage... Causes the server to behave weirdly... or you might just have a bugged client that doesn't show damage somehow... Aside from that, this is the most believable example of them being hackers.
"This has happened with 2 sloops and a Galleon."
You mean 2 hackers on sloops, and 1 hacker on a galleon? Or 2 sloops and 1 galleon vs 1 ship with a hacker on it? I'm confused.
If you've encountered 3 instances of hacker-manned ships, then mate, i'm more willing to believe your client is bugged, or that you need to learn more about the game.
I've played a LOT and i've only encountered ONE single person who could potentially be a hacker, but at the end of the day, i chalked it up to a bug that made their explosive barrel invisible somehow... Even though it looked like the dude was causing explosive barrel explosions wherever his snipers bullets hit a surface. :P
"This is not to mention characters who can take 4-5 direct cannon hits or a blunderbuss followed by 5 sword hits and still be alive."
That is easily just ping lag, dude... Even though it looks like you hit on your screen, does not necessarily your attack hit on your victims screen.
Was he standing perfectly still for enough attacks to possible kill him? did he eat bananas? There are factors you need to consider first.
"Little ranty, but I am tired of this c**p."
This isn't a little ranty... It's a literal rant... This post serves no purpose other than to cause unrest and drama on the forums, mate... If you want to help Rare remove hackers... Report the hackers to Rare, don't whine on the forums about it.
"But it is becoming all too common to walk a gunpowder between them on their deck, blow it up and not find them in the afterlife."
It actually doesn't take a great distance to allow players to survive a gunpowder barrel explosions mate... Most people know this, and act accordingly.
The explosions do less damage to players, the farther away from the center of the explosion they are.
"Or get sniped by them deep underwater, in the veil of night, nowhere near your ship, with no indication you were coming, and scoring perfect hits every time against more than one player."
I score perfect hits with my freaking pistol all the time... overall i'd say i have 80%-90% accuracy with the pistol, and underwater isn't safer either... I aim right below the name tag i see, and i hit... It's easy for me to aim like that because, i play on PC.
"So taking a break until the cheats are removed from the game."
There are no cheats built into the game, you can't remove something that was never there to begin with, mate.
And it's also impossible to be completely immune to hackers and automated hacking programs, the best Rare can do is monitor the information of each player and try to detect when the code is being altered unnaturally or something like that.
It's not as simple as just "remove hax pls", that's completely unrealistic... Computers are no more resistant to viruses and hacks than humans are resistant to disease and surgery.
