Thoughts for how to stop camp/leech players

  • I have been noticing that there’s a large rise of people going afk or straight up camping while the rest of the crew is forced to either do all the work or leave. Its not fair for all the others doing the work.
So my thoughts to deter this is adding in a penalty or a kick in a way that’s not “vote to kick”.

    1. after getting sent to the farry of the damned, the player has 10-15 mins from when the door opens to exit and resurrect. Otherwise “Your soul weakens and is hauled to the depths of Davy Jones Lockers”. This way the game can remove the player from the crew/server while leaving the active members able to do what they want/need to do without a handicap. Imo I’d prefer this because it’s not hard to lock the offender in the brig and then kill them in fun ways. (Drown them by flooding the ship, explosive barrles, or even scuttling and leaving them to the sharks)
    2. adding a time delayed “gold gain degrade/freeze” for being idol for too long. With this way Say if you have a friend who had something come up they can still stay logged in with out having to worry about being kicked out and they can still come back and continue playing, tho there was no gold gained During they’re absence.

  • The ferry idea would be the best option because the biggest issue is pc macros to store movement inputs on repeat

  • This post is pointless.

You are acting like the Ferry of the Damned allows afking. I can afk just as easily in the brig as I can on the ferry. The ferry just allows me to not have to listen to you play instruments or emote.

I dunno why people keep posting stuff like this. Private crews are coming this week. That solves everything.

  • @skyewauker your correct tho this is not as pointless as your thinking. Yes you can afk just as much on deck, on an island or in the brig. But what I’m suggesting is simply a way for those who want to remove these afk players who have been doing an hour or more of afk. This is just to help remove those players that can and will eventually end up on the farry of the damned to clear up that character slot for some one who has a higher possibility of doing something beneficial to the rest of the crew.

  • @skyewauker

Private crews do not replace public crews. Thow this solves this issue for thows who use the private crew function it still remains a problem for those who need to use the public crew system for one reason or another. So the argument that Private crews solves this issue end of discussion is completely false and this topic needs a valid salutation. This has only happened to me twice but has happened to my buddy at least 9 times in the last 3 days alone. This problem is becoming a big issue.....and in my opinion if it happens to even one crew that is one crew to many.

  • @skyewauker How do private crews solve the issue? This expolit will still be possible. Not everyone has Xbox Live friends to form a crew with. Why are you so hostile to these suggesstions? I can only assume you are one of the offenders when it comes to AFK-leeching.

  • Add a kick function. There's no reason to have a vote to brig but not a vote to kick. You can imprison someone but you can't outright reject their presence? Who thought this would be a good idea?

  • I'm pasting my response for another topic about afk leeching:

After thinking for some time the only simple non abusive solution i could thought of is making anyone who is brigged, being on the ferry or not, play a very silly and easy minigame from 5 to 5 or 10 to 10 minutes, just to check if he still there(like some sort of captcha). If the person who is brigged fails to play the minigame 2 or 3 times in a row he gets kicked from the lobby(walk the plank plz xD). Anyone who is afk macroing or with a rubber band on their controller will get kicked if fails to respond to this simple presence verification feature. Of course the minigame/captcha should always be different to prevent macro programing.

If this feature gets implemented the crew will only need to send the afk leecher to the brig and the system will do the rest.

Or just add a timer kick for anyone in the ferry, we will just have to brig and kill the leecher(drowned or with snakes) to send him to the ferry and there he can be kicked out of the lobby.

  • @aku-ni-vek A timer on the ferry is a pretty good one for AFKers.
