Almost unobtainable achievement

  • After looking at your list of achievements I noticed a achievement for 1000 banana crates. At the current drop rate of these crates and quests from my experience basically 1 about every 10 or so days(give or take) this achievement will take over 1000 days to even get close to getting

  • @jungo365 Maybe a weekly event will make them more obtainable?

  • @blackbeard-lufy one could hope

  • Probably not the best day to be mentioning bananas.

    fify

  • @needsmokes i know right

  • I’ve probably have close to 200hrs played and only have turned in 1 or 2 ughh.

  • @akbar37and most people refuse to even put a banana. in the crate

  • The last time i collected 50 bananas and handed it in at the correct outpost in the contract, i was awarded about 550-600 coins. I regretted it instantly and wished i had kept all those bananas.

    Exactly.
The rewards for the banana/cannonball/woodenplank crates are absurdly low, considering the work that goes into stockpiling.

On another note, I don't think these crates spawn enough.

  • I too have turned in one crate of each and have never done it again.. complete waste of time.. not enough reward would rather keep the materials

  • @bjornt-romdasea agreed the reward is a total waste compared to the effort

  • @jungo365 after further looking into how long it takes to get the crates you would technically die before you completed the achievement cause at 1 or 2 crates every about 15 days on average it would there fore take you 15k days to complete.......... Unless they put it in the weekly event that achievement is beyond retardo

  • I completely agree with everything said so far. I don't expect to EVER get these achievements or the commendations associated with the crates and was thinking maybe the crates could be added as part of the current merchant quests in the same way as gunpowder barrels or possibly a separate quest type. The obvious potential problem with that is the high likelihood of abuse as the crates are really handy for gathering materials more efficiently, although I'm not sure it would be a real problem overall and could potentially mean we could be collecting some supplies from enemy ships sunk aswell which I think most players would welcome.

  • apparently. bananas. are not for eating they are. for selling lol

  • @jungo365 I don't know about the achievement, but the commendation is for turning in banana crates ON SCHEDULE. You have to have a quest for it to count. I've turned in a whopping 0 banana crates and wood crates, and I believe 2 cannonball crates. I'm not even going to be worrying about those commendations because they're so impossible to obtain it's not even funny.

  • It's unobtainable. I play this game almost daily and in the probable 150 hours I've found maybe 4 banana crates.

  • Think that's bad?

I think I've seen at best 3 wooden plank crates since launch.

  • I've played since launch and the beta before then. Daily game sessions usually lasting eight hours or more.
I've seen probably two banana crates and two plank crates. No cannon ball crates.

Crates definitely need a huge increase.

  • What's really funny, is for the rarest items in the game, they really aren't worth anything when you turn them in, even with a quest. We turned in a cannonball crate for a message in a bottle the other day and got like 400 gold for it. They're more useful to just keep on your ship and use as quick access instead of going below deck.

Same thing with the banana crates. Anytime we find one now, we just carry it with us to an island when doing OoS voyages. Now if only there was an ammo crate, we'd be set!

  • @tedakin finding them doesn't count for the achievement...you need to have a voyage or a message in a bottle mission for that

  • @schwammlgott Well that makes it even more ridiculous.

  • @tedakin as someone said before: maybe with the weekly missions this changes...hopefully

  • If you snag the message in a bottle quest for one. you can get the crate from any merchant vendor afterwards. and can usually fill it all the way if not 3/4s of the way at said outpost.

  • 1 official quest for a 'nana crate
    2 for cannonballs
    0 for planks

Good job Rare are wanting the game to have a life of 10 years!

  • @sshteeve they did the same c**p with the achievements in PD Zero

  • @hot-juicy-pie I never did more than complete the main game, then sold PD Zero, wasn't as good as I remembered the original as being, though it was a solid release title for the 360.

My mate bought a 360 on release day though and didn't bother with the hard drive or memory card (still unbelievable that they did that) and had to keep playing the same levels over and over!
