Athena Treasure seems to be lacking

  • I've noticed that Athena Voyage treasure output seems to be not on par with the rewards that level 50 voyages give out. Perhaps this was overlooked in the treasure allocation update.

  • @aliasmask True story. So many seafarers.

  • Only makes sense that the lvl 50 voyages pay better imo. Gives players a reason to do voyages for a faction after reaching lvl 50. If they need the money, of course, which isn't really a concern for anyone at lvl 50 at the moment.

  • low faction rewards is fine on athena's, I much rather have more varied legendary missions than more rewards for the factions I already maxed

I’m a legend and broke I only have about 323,000 gold.

  • Thankfully I did 160 raids to get to legend. Less than 40 total voyages completed when I maxed. Now I get to make up for lost time.... For the next 150-300 hours

  • I think RARE need to be careful that things don’t get too exponential with payouts... the father you advance, the higher rewards everyone expects... but it could turn into a runaway train.

It seems like the original thought was (and perhaps should still be) that it’s just statistics.. the odds of finding a castaway chest is 40%, seafarers 30%, marauders 20%, captains 10% ... or something along those lines. That would hold true universally across any level quest.

All the quest level affects, is the length of voyage. If this is the case, you should still be able to buy short voyages even at higher levels if you can only play for a short time for example.

  • I agree the Athena voyage should give us higher quality loot. We are legends doing the hardest quest in the game yet we are getting mid level loot. If we are going to have to fight 10+ skeletons every time we dig up a chest it should at least be a marauders and above quality.

If we got better loot for legend voyages there would be no reason for the other factions to exist after level 50. This way they're at least an alternative if you need cash.

  • @rk1-turbulence So your argument is that the hardest voyage in the game should get less rewards then super easy voyages based purely on the fact that without athena's getting less quality goods that the other voyages would crumble?

It's still the only way to get athena rep. And it's not that much harder.

  • I feel like there needs to be smaller athena treasure items beyond just chest, it might change because I feel like what people say about rare not anticipating people racing to legend so fast that the content for them wasn't high priority for release. I'd like to see legendary skulls that give small rep boosts and legendary captains you have to defeat to get them and the like. At the moment athena rep progression is very linear with only the chests to get you there.

  • @rk1-turbulence For my crew the athena voyage take around an hour and a half to two hours. At the end of the voyage we get 8 skulls, 12 chests, and 8 merchant items turned it. Most of the loot is low to middle tier (disgraced skull to hateful skull) level stuff. This is while fighting 3 times the normal amount of skeletons at each island and they have 3 times the normal amount of health. Vs. A solo sloop with a level 50 gold hoarders voyage that can be done in 10 to 20 minutes and get almost all high tier loot (marauders to captain chests) with a decent chance at getting a cursed chest. I usually average 5 to 7 chests per island with these voyages. So why should something that is less time consuming and has easier enemies get better rewards?
