I was thinking it would be a great idea to be able to combine merchant voyages with gold horders and order of soles it would be more entertaining to do the merchant voyages if you where able to do that

This would be awesome the thing I currently experience is that I find a lot of mystic books (or mysterious), but also messages in bottles to do while I do merchants. I had the same feeling when they disabled it for a while.
Don't know if people share this. Don't get me wrong im in for doing multiple voyages but then only GH-MA or OoS-MA no other combo.
I agree and like @Mr-SHATANGO said, only let MA be the one that is able to be combined with something.
@injuringquill3 Merchant take long to complete?! In what game?
Merchant is the most easy, fast and rewarded alliance to evolve.
You just need to know where the animal are, trace your route wisely.
Each island has the same type of animals, always. Go for the one you need, nearest the outpost you need to deliver.
Forts for the gunpowder. There are a lot of bottles with messages and lore diaries that gives you "side quests" if you what to do things mixed. Like the Athena's voyages.

As stated, that's in the game under the name of "Legendary voyage".
The longer I play the game the more I realise how incredibly well balanced it actually is.
Here's my take on why merchant is fine as it is.They are the only voyages where you know in advance what you're getting.
You can pick the most profitable one and then decide to do it.
Furthermore merchant voyages follow a certain pattern.
You basically finish 3 trips per "zone" (there's a little more to it depending on your ship, but basically that's how it works).
A zone being:- Golden Sands - Sanctuary (North East)
- Dagger Tooth - Galleons Grave (North West)
- Plunder - Ancient Spire (South)
You pick the most profitable trip and do it.
Some tips if you want to speed-level your merchant trips:
The overall level of your crew impacts the goods to collect.
If your crew is very diverse (aka 10 levels apart), have the low level folks leave the party until you picked the most profitable trip - they can join in afterwards.
Our crew levels for MA are currently: 50, 46 and 29.
We let me (lvl50) pick the voyages and the others join in later.Next up: collect the cages for every voyage you open, even if you drop the trip later.
So you will end up with a lot more cages than you need for your current trip.
Use those, collect more than you need. This way, if you're lucky, your next trip is directly Outpost to Outpost because you have all the stuff you need.Optimize your "searching".
You need black and golden animals? Cool.
Catch every white and red chicken and kill it while it's in the cage.
Why? Because that way neither you nor your crewmates get distracted by the sound of a chicken you don't need. Finally: Reset islands.
The animals on an island are spawned by player proximity.
So say you "cleared" an island from all animals but still need two golden pigs.
Kill your entire crew at the same time (powder kegs speed things up here by a huge margin).
If you collect snakes they are very cooperative in killing you.
If nothing helps, jumping off the crows nest kills you fast as well.
Make 100% sure nobody exits the ferry before all players are on the ferry with you.
This way there is no player near the island, thus: respawn of animals once you exit the ferry and you can continue farming animals.I started pushing MA when I was level 30 (everything before came from Strongholds and stuff off wrecks).
I made it to 50 yesterday night, so it took me 7 nights of playing.
There is absolutely no need to speed this up even more.@injuringquill3 - I have to disagree.
Like @NunoAzuldimeter, I find these the quickest and most profitable. If anything, I'd like the OoS changed but I'm not going to make a scene as I know others love them. When you get a bunch of high level gold skellies in a cave or at the top of Plunder Valley, the time v reward just isn't worth it to me.
While doing MA I usually scout for Lore Books, Bottles & Shipwrecks as the time allocated is very generous. I've mainly being doing MA voyages and all 3 trading company reps have progressed equally.
So using this method do you only turn in the golden/black animals for that voyage? Say the voyage you choose to do has 2X Golden Chickens, 1X black chicken, 1X powder, and 1X striped pig. Do you ignore the rest of the animals, turn in the gold/black, collect the reward for that, then drop the voyage and start again?
@grundlestump correct.
That's the fastest way of doing it.
You will regret that later, once you're legend and want to get all commendations which require you to "finish" voyages :)@lefaux2
Ha! Fair enough. Thanks for clearing that up. Seems like the commendations will come in doing Athena's chests anyway.@grundlestump said in Merchants quests take to long to complete:

Yes and no.
The higher crew levels get, the better the loot seems to get.
If we're 4 legends doing a trip we didn't get anything "lower" than captain's chests and tier 4 skulls.
So finishing the 1000 seafarer's chests achievement is a bit tricky for us now :)
